Spanish high speed trains are apparently as dangerous as skydiving, and only 3x safer than helicopters.
I think Spain overbuilt physical infrastructure relative to its economy and human capital. It has way too much HSR for its population and GDP, and it built its HSR more cheaply than anyone else; knowing Spain, this was probably more cutting corners than efficiency. An accusation often levied against China, actually true for Spain.
Spain should have focused more on deregulation and enforcing basic property rights. It only really needs HSR between Madrid and Barcelona.
At least 85 people this year died from Spanish train accidents, and likely it will grow to 100 at the end of this day
Very tragic and this makes Spanish trains one of the most dangerous modes of transport now
~100x more dangerous than flying commercial
~40x more dangerous than non-Spanish trains
And every trip is nopw as dangerous as jumping from a plane and skydiving
Two highly deadly train accidents in one year, that's so extreme and unlikely that it makes it at as dangerous as flying one of the most deadly airlines in the world, the Nepalese Yeti Airlines that keeps crashing due to the mountainous terrain
Pretty exceptional in a bad way

🇫🇷 A French politician poses for photos with MASKED RIOTERS just minutes before they TRASH a bank in Grenoble.
And the man in the pictures? He's in charge of the city's FINANCE commission.
Allan Brunon, an elected official from the far-left LFI party, smiles for the camera alongside black bloc-style protesters.
Just minutes later, some of those demonstrators allegedly ransacked a Crédit Agricole branch.
Seriously, a city finance official posing with masked protesters while banks are getting smashed up?
You couldn't write a more ridiculous set of circumstances.
