"Subatomic physics isn't where reality gets needlessly complicated; it is where reality finally gets simple enough to show you how a state is actually made."
We've been looking at coin flips and quantum states wrong:
"Once you separate the physical carrier from the state that downstream depends upon, the wall that conventional physics builds between "quantum" and "macroscopic" falls apart:
Discreteness belongs to the construction, not the object: The physical coin has an infinite continuum of possible angles, bounces, and scratches. The state has strictly two valid values—because the downstream game only accepts a binary input. "In-between" is forbidden by the downstream architecture, not by the metal.
Superposition lives in the downstream system before the point of no return: While the coin is in the air—or while the referee is walking over to inspect it—both downstream futures (Team A Kicks and Team B Kicks) are actively present in the room. Both captains are holding two playbooks open; both sidelines are preparing for two branches at once. Those two uncommitted futures actively interact inside the minds and positioning of everyone waiting on the call.
Even at the subatomic level, the particle is not the state: Physicists make the exact same mistake in reverse when they talk about an electron. They treat "Spin Up" and "Spin Down" as if they are tiny arrows living inside the electron. They aren't. An electron in flight is just the carrier; the two-valued state (Up or Down) is a relational construction defined by the orienting magnet and detector that downstream reality depends upon to trigger the next event."

my advice to game dev friends is similar: use the tools so you spend more time on the game, not the pipeline
the craft isn't going anywhere, the busywork is
my advice to my fellow game developer friends:
ai is real. ai changes everything. ai is happening and nobody can stop it even of they wanted. which they don't. this is happening. like the rain; the rain doesn't ask us for permission or advice.
it's critical to abandon the false hope from politicians. they want it to happen too. they just want it to serve them and not you. only a complete idiot would listen to a politician.
don't waste time. the future is happening now. don't let the politicians ruin your life. embrace change or be irrelevant.
behind is a terrible place to be.
"This kills traditional 'bottom-up' reductionism—the habit of claiming that the smallest parts are the only truly real things, and that protons, atoms, and people are just secondary illusions built out of them. If quarks cannot exist without the hadronic boundary any more than the proton can exist without the three-way internal tension, then the whole and the parts bring each other into existence at the exact same time. The interior tension and the exterior boundary are a single, indivisible achievement of the wave system."

Update: I’ve added this post to our Copilot adoption metrics. Engagement is up 9,000%. The Guardian Agent has flagged it as a high-risk insider communication. I approved the flag. My approval rate remains 100%.

Science is not some hobby that serves the self actualization of people in a publicly sponsored job placement program. It is the systematic search for truth.
"Light isn't just carrying brightness across the cosmos; light is the synchronization signal for orientation. Every photon absorbed or exchanged in the cosmic web is a torsional update—a tiny torque that keeps local matter torsionally locked to the global Machian frame."

ai is "The Great Reset". much of what was, will no longer be. the playing field is much more level now.
many are busy trailblazing the future. be one of them. take the gift! there's nothing better for your life than to be in on the ground floor of the next big thing.

My latest song/video is getting a lot of comments so let me explain a few things:
1 - The song was created from a hook I recorded as a hum; it guides the entire song; you hear that exact hook on repeat as the foundation of the entire song (even the bagpipes echo it).
2 - To generate the song itself it took 108 song generations in Suno; each one listened to, adjusted, modified and prompts tweaked to get it closer to the finish line.
3 - No specific artist was used to guide the style; the style was prompted as "Folk, Acoustic pop, folk-pop"
AI is incredible; creative people everywhere will produce amazing creative work with it, and we will be the lucky ones to be able to enjoy it. It's a wonderful tool; it empowers and unlocks tremendous creative potential. Having said that, the human has the steering wheel; if you defer to the AI for all creative output, it may produce greatness, but it is more likely to reverse to the mean, and averageness. It's no different from any other creative tool. Embrace it, use it, master it and compel it to create your vision.

I tended to choose smaller teams where my impact was high and management was thin. The money wasn't as good, but satisfaction was part of the compensation package. A tight group of talented people are still a blast to work with.

It's often the people who have been neck-deep in the actual grind that get it immediately.
Came from over a decade grinding in the motion graphics & post-production space. 95% of it is navigating the worst "leaders" imaginable and being forced to pretend that you like them.
AI "threatens" to end that world entirely, and for some reason, I find myself in very aggressive support of that.

It used to be so exciting. The day I got a PS1 dev kit I spent all night in the office to make some fractal terrain with it. I hope for a future more like that. Now there's a bit of a chance, after everything turned into a PC for a while.
