🚀 MCP Playground Desktop is here!
If you build MCP servers, you know the drill: write a tool, connect a client, and figure out why the model isn’t calling it.
🧪 Tester — Connect local stdio or localhost servers, call any tool manually, and inspect the raw JSON-RPC for every call.
🤖 Agent Studio — Test your tools with 80+ AI models and see which tools they call, what arguments they pass, and how they behave.
☁️ Remote MCP Server Library — Save and manage 100+ MCP servers, then connect them with AI models to explore tools and build powerful AI workflows.
💻 Local + Remote — Test local servers without deploying them, or work with remote MCP servers from one place.
Available for macOS and Windows

Testing an MCP server? Three tools, three jobs:
🔍 MCP Inspector: free, open source, best for OAuth, MCP Apps and CI
📮 Postman: MCP requests in shared team collections
🖥️ MCP Playground Desktop: local stdio servers that won't start, plus 80+ models calling your tools

Your MCP server works perfectly in the terminal. But Claude Desktop says Server disconnected
Sound familiar?
The problem might not be your code. It's the environment.
Claude Desktop launches your MCP server as a different process, often with a different:
1. PATH – npx, uvx, or other commands can't be found.
2. Working directory – Relative paths break, sometimes triggering EROFS on macOS.
3. Environment variables – Your .zshrc exports aren't loaded.
4. Node/Python version – The client may use a completely different runtime.
Add stdout logging and configuration mistakes to the mix, and you've got six common reasons your MCP server fails outside the terminal.
Find all 6 causes, their exact error messages, and the fixes:

Your MCP server runs on your laptop. Browser testers can't see it.
MCP Playground Desktop can:
→ import servers from Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Claude Code
→ stdio + localhost
→ JSON-RPC log + server stderr
→ 80+ models calling your tools

"spawn npx ENOENT" isn't a bug in your MCP server. Your client just can't find npx.
Mac: apps opened from the Dock don't see Homebrew or nvm.
Windows: npx is really npx.cmd.

MCP is giving AI assistants a standard way to connect with tools and data. Less copy-paste, more useful workflows—while keeping integrations modular. That’s a shift worth watching. #MCP
An MCP tool can “work” and still break your agent.
Debug these 4 layers separately:
1. Tool schema
2. Generated arguments
3. Raw server response
4. Latency and timeouts
When a call fails, replay the exact arguments before rewriting the prompt. Save this checklist.

"Just connect your AI to your database" sounds simple until you try it.
The official Postgres MCP server is one of the most-used MCP servers. But it's local-only: npx, a connection string in a JSON config, one client, one model. And you're never quite sure what SQL the model is running.
On MCP Playground you can run it hosted:
→ Paste a Postgres URL (Supabase, Neon, RDS or your own) and get a live MCP server in under a minute
→ It's read-only by design: every query is wrapped in BEGIN/ROLLBACK and writes are rejected
→ Ask questions in plain English with Claude, GPT, Gemini or 60+ other models
→ See every SQL query the model writes, and what came back, before you trust the answer
→ Compare models side by side to find out which one writes correct SQL against your schema, not just plausible SQL
Try asking:
• "Which 10 customers spent the most last month?"
• "Find tables with no primary key or no indexes."
• "This query is slow. Look at the schema and tell me why."
No install, no config file, no local process.
The same works for MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, SQL Server and more.

Chrome DevTools MCP lets your agent debug a live page: perf traces, network, console errors, Lighthouse.
Run it hosted instead of locally:
→ 30 tools, live URL in one click
→ no Chrome to install
→ isolated sandbox, never your logged-in profile
mcpplaygroundonline.com/mcp-…
5/ Try a prompt like:
"Load our pricing page, record a trace, and tell me the 3 fixes with the biggest LCP impact."
👉 mcpplaygroundonline.com/mcp-…
4/ Hosted on MCP Playground:
✅ Real headless Chrome in a disposable, isolated sandbox
✅ Fresh profile every session, never your cookies
✅ 30 tools, nothing to install
✅ Live HTTPS URL + bearer token for Claude, Cursor, VS Code or your own agent
3/ The catch with running it locally: it launches or attaches to Chrome on your machine.
That means your agent can see every page you're logged into: email, admin panels, banking.
2/ What it can do:
⚡ Record a performance trace and name what's blocking LCP
🌐 List network requests: failed, slow, render-blocking
🐞 Read console errors with source-mapped stack traces
🔦 Run a full Lighthouse audit
🖱️ Click, fill forms, screenshot, emulate slow CPU/network
1/ Google's Chrome DevTools MCP is one of the most useful MCP servers out right now.
Your agent stops guessing why a page is slow and actually measures it. 🧵
AI agents are getting better at working with payment systems. But connecting an agent to payments isn't just an integration problem — it's a question of control, permissions, and risk.
We compared three Payments MCP servers: Stripe, PayPal, and Lago.
Here's what stands out:
🔹 Stripe MCP - Server-side human approval for refunds and outbound payments.
🔹 PayPal MCP - 40+ tools covering invoices, payments, disputes, subscriptions, and reporting, plus a dedicated sandbox.
🔹 Lago MCP - An open-source billing option for teams that want to self-host and control their billing infrastructure.
The biggest opportunity isn't letting AI move money autonomously. It's using agents to investigate failed payments, answer revenue questions, gather dispute evidence, and prepare invoice reminders while keeping humans in control of consequential actions.
The guide also covers permission boundaries, prompt injection risks, and an important upcoming Stripe API-key change.
If you're building AI agents for fintech, billing, or customer support, this comparison is worth bookmarking.
