Apple’s Spatial Audio with head tracking is actually legit. First time I try a gimmick like that and it actually feels immersive (only recently got AirPods 😛)
Any other implementation and headphones I tried just sounded worse and didn’t add anything but here it actually feels like you’re standing in front of a speaker. Sure, the bass sounds more muddy, but most sound systems sound like that anyway so it only adds to the immersion.
First few minutes after turning it on it’s still weird but once you get used to it, it just sounds natural, especially when dancing around or bobbing your head 💃 And when you turn it off again it feels like something is missing, well literally you’re turning off a whole dimension of sound. Give it a try!
Here's altcaster.xyz, a deployment of the open source Farcaster client.
Now that Farcaster has reopened write access on the client API, the open source client works once again!
But there's one big restriction:
If you haven’t signed the Network Code, farcaster.xyz shadowbans you. Your casts and interactions look fine to you, but other users of the main app won’t see them. This isn’t caused by any custom client, and the main app is only vague about this restriction. To check it for yourself, open your profile on the main app while logged out and your new casts won’t show up.
The client isn’t fully tested yet, so feedback is welcome!

the AI videos are so good and it’s actively shifting AI sentiment on tiktok to positive (was historically super negative)

I don’t necessarily agree with a Farcaster protocol hard fork, but I’m excited that there’s serious interest to make it happen
Decentralized social is important.
Yesterday's actions by Farcaster, preemptively banning long-serving community members as an AI decided they "didn't fit the Singaporean citizen model" is frankly insane - and alongside being an example of AI used with the worst possible intentions, it also added to the importance of actual decentralized social.
We're working with our friends within the Farcaster Community (the real one) to lend our dev resources towards ensuring the continuity of the protocol under HyperSnap & Quilibrium, spearheaded by @cass_on_mars.
We believe this symbiotic relationship will be beneficial to both our community at imgnAI, as well as to the Farcaster community - and the large overlap of users active on both of our platforms.
We all believe that decentralization is the way forward - and we want to ensure that we're doing everything in our power to keep decentralized social and its talented pool of builders & creators live and kicking.
Happy to report that firefly.social still works and casts show up in farcaster.xyz even if you didn't sign the social contract (given that you're not banned for other reasons)

"sufficiently decentralized" farcaster's snapchain is completely centralized now. They removed degen and uno (the only third party validators) and replaced them with new services (moria and isengard) which are most likely Network School hosted nodes: github.com/farcasterxyz/snap…
