Researchers have been taking a closer look at women's shirts through the years. This illustration highlights some 1980s styles - plenty of ruffles!

Discovered Eleanor Rathbone today. If, as a Mother, you received child allowance directly, it's because of Eleanor: "she argued that wages paid only to men left families with children under-supported and that mothers should receive direct payments". Thank you, Eleanor.

Royal Mail has been told that it could save £650m by only delivering things 3 days a week.
Did you know that the taxpayer could save £4,000m a year if Royal Mail had never been privatised, or if it was renationalised, and deliver 5 days a week.
I'd go with that.

The Prince Charles Cinema Secures its Future
The Prince Charles Cinema is thrilled to announce that we have signed a new 25-year lease with no break clause, ensuring our projectors will keep rolling for years to come.

RIP Ray Kolle - the driving force behind the special characters and storylines that made #Neighbours the international phenomenon it was between 1986 and 1992. He also saved the show in the mid 90s with a back to basics reset and the return of the iconic Madge and Harold. (1/2)
I completed an ancestry DNA test thing for a bit of fun, and discovered I had a half sibling. Worked out my dad of 47 years wasn't my biological dad. Didn't have an inkling. Haven't been able to bring myself to tell anyone. Heads in a blender. Think hard before you do one.

I’m not going to agree with Andy Burnham on everything, but this statement needed to be said by a Prime Minister. After the Conservatives suppressed the truth for years, this took courage.

Beyond shocked and appalled at this.
@EdwardJDavey has my full support and that of the vast majority of MPs.
All our focus should be on fighting the populists who are trying to tear our nation apart, rather than trying to tear ourselves apart. – at Richmond, London
A senior Liberal Democrat MP has launched an attempt to oust party leader Ed Davey amid frustration over the party’s falling poll ratings.

🏴 Last year, I stood up in Parliament and challenged the weaponisation of our St. George’s flag.
The next day, a man spewing far-right abuse came to physically attack my office and has returned multiple times to intimidate, abuse and cause damage. He has since been convicted.
The fight the Liberal Democrats 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 be focused on is our fight against this kind of hate and division that affects so many, fuelled by far-right populists across our country.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 is the fight that matters.
Ed Davey has been leading us in that liberal fight, and I absolutely back him in doing so.

I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Can someone explain why so many bakeries close before people with regular jobs even get off work? I promise you there is a huge population of exhausted people at 6 PM who would happily exchange money for a croissant.
I see people saying "but what about the big things" these little things will help some people and are achievable. They also start to set the idea around what we will accept as a culture and allow hope whilst the big things are changed. – at Burgess Hill, England
You know that feeling when you book a flight for 50 quid and somehow it ends up costing 100?
Getting seats together, correcting a typo, another charge here and there, it all adds up.
When the cost of living is already squeezing people, those endless extras can feel relentless.
So we're changing the rules for you.
Parents won't need to pay a penny extra just to sit next to their own children.
You'll be able to fix any name errors on your booking free of charge.
And because the last thing you want once you're on the plane is more stress, we're working with the industry to make sure that disruptive passengers who have been banned from one airline can be banned from flying with other airlines too.
I know holidays are expensive and these are small things, but hopefully they'll make your trip just that little bit cheaper and easier.
That's exactly the kind of thing I want this government to keep on fixing.

Andy Burnham opening the door to rejoining the EU is a masterstroke.
Single market, trade gets easier, the economy boosts and Reform’s wet dream of ripping up the Equality Act becomes practically impossible.
Let's get it done.

Watching ITV news right now:
The coverage of Andy Burnham's plans to scrap the pension triple lock looked like this:
- About 30 seconds dedicated to the benefits of scrapping the lock.
- A minute-long sob-story of a pensioner who won't be effected by the change.
- A cutaway to Nigel Farage (who leads one of the smallest parties in parliament) lying about how we would be better off removing benefits from immigrants, scraping Net Zero and some other bullshit
This is how your media will defeat sensible economic policy every single time.

So basically Burnham is going to finally destroy everything fucking disastrous thing Thatcher and Cameron did. No wonder the Tories and the turquoise fascists are shitting bricks.
