With a target capacity of nearly 4,000 MW by 2032, we are working with our partners to harness Oman's natural potential to deliver sustainable energy and unlock investment and growth opportunities. This will diversify the energy mix and help reduce emissions, advancing the energy sector's objectives under Oman Vision 2040 and the goal of achieving net zero by 2050.

وقّع معالي المهندس سالم بن ناصر العوفي، وزير الطاقة والمعادن، وصاحب السمو السيد الدكتور فهد بن الجلندى بن ماجد آل سعيد، رئيس جامعة السلطان قابوس، اتفاقية تنفيذ النسخة الثانية من البرنامج التدريبي «كفاءة» لمدة ثلاث سنوات، لتأهيل 295 مشاركًا في مجالي تدقيق الطاقة والقياس والتحقق، ودعم تأسيس شركات ناشئة متخصصة في كفاءة الطاقة، بما يعزز الكفاءات الوطنية ويربط التدريب بالتطبيق العملي وريادة الأعمال، دعمًا لمستهدفات الحياد الصفري في سلطنة عُمان. H.E. Eng. Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and H.E. Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, signed an agreement to implement the second edition of the Kafa’a Training Programme over three years. The programme aims to train 295 participants in energy auditing and measurement and verification, while supporting the establishment of start-ups specialising in energy efficiency. It seeks to strengthen national capabilities, link training with practical application and entrepreneurship, and support Oman’s Net Zero objectives.

افتتح معالي المهندس سالم بن ناصر العوفي، وزير الطاقة والمعادن، مختبر مركز أبحاث الطاقة المستدامة بجامعة السلطان قابوس، بحضور صاحب السمو السيد الدكتور فهد بن الجلندى آل سعيد، رئيس الجامعة، باستثمار يقارب 1.5 مليون ريال عُماني، بالشراكة مع شركة أوكسي عُمان. ويعزّز المختبر ربط البحث العلمي باحتياجات قطاع الطاقة، وتطوير حلول وتقنيات ترفع كفاءة استخدام الطاقة وتخفض الانبعاثات، وتحويل مخرجات البحث والابتكار إلى تطبيقات عملية تدعم تنافسية القطاع، وتسهم في تحقيق مستهدفات رؤية عُمان 2040 والحياد الصفري بحلول عام 2050. H.E. Eng. Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, inaugurated the Sustainable Energy Research Centre’s laboratory at Sultan Qaboos University, in the presence of H.H. Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice-Chancellor of the University. The laboratory represents an investment of approximately OMR 1.5 million, in partnership with Oxy Oman. The laboratory strengthens the alignment of scientific research with the needs of the energy sector, advances solutions and technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions, and translates research and innovation into practical applications that enhance the sector’s competitiveness and contribute to achieving Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate of Oman’s Net Zero target by 2050.

Mohsin Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry, reviewed the progress of work, project milestones, and modern technologies being used at Mazoon Copper Project in Yanqul. The project, developed by Minerals Development Oman Company, is expected to commence copper concentrate production in 2027. It will maximise the economic value of mineral resources, strengthen local content by empowering small and medium enterprises and developing national talent, and support community development, further enhancing the contribution of the minerals sector to the national economy and advancing the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, Oman Cables Industry laid the foundation stone for its third manufacturing plant in Rusayl Industrial City, with an investment exceeding OMR 10 million. The project aims to strengthen Oman’s domestic manufacturing capabilities and meet the growing demand for cables across energy and infrastructure projects, as well as urban and industrial development. It will also contribute to enhancing local content by localizing industries and technologies, developing national talent, and strengthening the competitiveness of Omani products in domestic and international markets.
