The world's oldest known musical instrument is a flute and was discovered in the Hohle Fels cave in Germany's Swabian Alb. The instrument is made from a vulture radius bone perforated with five finger holes and is around 40,000 years old.

Music Helps Plants Grow Faster.
According to a study by scientists from South Korea, plants grow at a faster pace when they are played classical music. Using 14 different pieces of music, the scientists played music to a rice field and studied the results.

News came through this week from Seoul that a robot orchestral conductor took to the podium for the first time.
Will robots be able to conduct choirs effectively? I very much doubt it, unless they are programmed to regularly tell us to breathe properly and smile!
