Known as the ornate elysia, this tiny marine marvel doesn't just look like a leaf. It acts like one too! Through a mind-blowing process called kleptoplasty, it steals chloroplasts from the algae it eats and stores them in its own body to photosynthesize energy from sunlight. ๐งฌโจ
๐ Size: Small but striking, usually growing between 2 to 5 centimeters in length.
๐งฌ Taxonomy: Belonging to the clade Sacoglossa, these "sap-sucking slugs" are actually distinct from true nudibranchs.
๐ Distribution: True Elysia ornata are native to the warm tropical and subtropical waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. They love hanging out in shallow waters, rocky reefs, and lush seagrass beds up to 18 meters deep.
๐จ Appearance: They feature a translucent greenish-yellow body peppered with black and white spots. You can easily spot them by the vibrant orange band and sharp black trim outlining their wing-like flaps (parapodia) and rhinophores.

๐ฅ The Process: Rising water temperatures stress corals, disrupting their relationship with their symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae).
โช The Result: The corals expel this algae, losing their primary nutrient source and turning completely white.
โ ๏ธ The Danger: Bleached coral is not dead, but it is under extreme stress; if high temperatures persist, the coral starves and dies.โ ๏ธ
