Here is the reality of MFL harsh grading. Son did AS mock exams (2019 boundaries) : 45% in maths got a C, 51% in business gets a C, but 66.5 % in French got a C. Why, why, why would anybody want to do French at A level, (and GCSE?)

You don't have to be 'good at languages' to enjoy a Spanish song & understand some of the lyrics, feel the huge satisfaction of saying a few words in Chinese or learn to write your name in Arabic or Russian. Whatever you are good at, it feels even better with another language.

When can you say, I 'speak' French or Spanish? If you can say bonjour. Ça va? or ¿qué tal te va? & understand the answer, you're speaking another language. I can't discuss nuclear physics in English, but I still speak it. Build on what you can say & not what you can't (yet).

Brexit makes languages more essential to the UK, not less. Spanish opens up much of Latin America. French is a way in to North Africa & German is still the language of the UK’s 2nd biggest export market. If anything, languages are even more important now, whatever you want to do.

So our Year 6 were supposed to go to @kingswoodcamps this Sunday.
After appalling communication from them they have told us they won’t be refunding the £1296 deposit we made.
As a school we will refund our parents, but I’ll guarantee we’ll never go there again.

Today queuing @Tesco a lady heard me talking about school and asked if I was a teacher, when I replied yes she said what a brilliant job we are all doing. This was the 1st time during the pandemic I’ve heard something positive about teachers. It was a lovely moment 😍
