Forget grandiose talk of curing cancer - this is what AI is actually doing to healthcare. In the words of one cardiologist: “it’s bots fighting bots, agents fighting agents, a horrible dystopic future nobody wants to live in.”

This.
Horrific statements from Hasan Piker today in the New York Times comparing Israeli actions to Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler, and the Holocaust that’ll surely be covered by CNN and condemned by every Democratic leader Oh wait they’re from Israeli generals and officials

Apparently our first endorsement has upset some people. Good. Higher ed, academic freedom, research, collective bargaining, and the idea of college as a public good are under attack. AAUP isn't going to respond by pretending politics isn't happening. We're going to organize.

Notable that the NYT amid their voluminous coverage of Tuesday’s primaries doesn’t appear to have published more than a few sentences about Chris Rabb’s blowout left-wing socialist victory in the most Democratic congressional district in the nation and what that might mean.

Death is always lurking. We see it in violence, in the wounds of the world, in the cry of pain that rises from every corner because of the abuses that crush the weakest among us, because of the idolatry of profit that plunders the earth’s resources, because of the violence of war that kills and destroys. #Easter

For @thenation I wrote about antisemitism smears against @hasanthehun, an attempt to protect both Israel and Dem establishment from legitimate criticism. The fake antisemitism outrage machine, however, no longer shuts up the left—it empowers the far right thenation.com/article/politi…

Joe Biden and every single liberal politician or media figure who demonized anti-genocide protesters as anti-semitic extremists, who called for or engineered mass repression of the campus encampments, is deeply complicit in Trump’s repression today. Absolutely shameful.
NEWS: Last night, DHS detained a Palestinian who helped lead Columbia encampment. Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too. His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.zeteo.com/p/breaking-dhs-det…

Adolph Reed said like 20 years ago that the Reps were evolving into a Christofascist party (not his term, but his meaning) and the Dems were evolving into old-style Reps. Prescient.

Biden is set to go down in history as the president who not only presided over a genocide but who allowed Israel to drag the US into a giant regional war. And he could stop it all with a phone call.

What a disgraceful day @Uchicago. To attack your student like a literal thief in the night. So craven, so pathetic, so in-the-pocket of preening donors. So antithetical to principles of free and open discussion, so hostile to pedagogy. Admin should be ashamed of themselves.

A short thread about yesterday’s discussion of the Kalven Report @uchicago3ct.
Was reminded of this paragraph in the Kalven Report at last night @uchicago3ct event. Setting aside the many other things one can (and panelists did) say about the report, this raises a question: When, if not now, will @UChicago speak out in defense of the university... 1/n

It’s been 100 days since I signed on to the ceasefire resolution. In that time more than 25,000 thousand Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers. I will continue to call for a ceasefire until there is an end to the atrocities and lasting peace. I urge my colleagues to do the same.
