The open source launch warning tool that @tylerni7 and @michaelnute built worked like a charm again—we expected to see an ionospheric disturbance but didn’t. That’s because the launch failed.

North Korea conducted an ICBM test. The yellow flash in the video is an ionospheric disturbance created by the launch, detected in GPS data using a tool built by @tylerni7 and @michaelnute.

For us to avoid a future SVB, here are two things we could do as a country:
1) Restore Dodd-Frank legislative protections, which this bank would've likely failed.
2) Legislate that banks can't require 100% of your deposits be with them in return for debt of any sort.
Here's the best explanation of how it worked at SVB. Great deals on everything, you just have to hold all your deposits with us. Pay no attention to what's happening to them behind the curtain.

The open source missile detection tool that @tylerni7 and @michaelnute detected the North Korean ICBM launch. I will never get tried of seeing this.
This was a fun project to be a part of and a pleasure to talk about with @ArmsControlWonk!
New ACW podcast ep up! @tylerni7 and @michaelnute join Jeffrey to talk about their *incredible* tool and work on detecting long-range missile launches out of North Korea based on ionospheric disturbances found in GPS data. This is amazing.

Time to let the cat out of the bag! @tylerni7 and @michaelnute have been writing code to detect missile launches like tonight's North Korean ICBM test in GPS data. Missiles make ionospheric disturbances that GPS records. The yellow ripple is the ionospheric disturbance.

Just a reminder that Sergei Shoigu, Russia's defence minister, collects interesting pieces of wood and has shown them off to Putin.

Sincere question for #genomics/#microbiome folx from @davidandacat & me -- y'all do such a fabulous & specific job specifying exactly how you did your lab work (minutes & speed centrifuged; annealing temp) BUT then you say "we used Stata"; "we ran a linear regression"... 1/3

A thread focusing on a mutation in Omicron that looks promising as a potential indicator of trace Omicron presence in wastewater: N:DEL31/33. Let's dig in!
Earlier in the week, traces of Omicron were detected in Houston wastewater, highlighted here: khou.com/article/news/health…
