Beautiful words for a wonderful person 🕊️🤍
They say the price of love is grief, and the hurt that’s being felt so deeply, so widely, across Ireland and the athletics world is a reflection of what so many felt for Ciara Mageean.
A reflection on the athlete and person she was:

With Ciarán Ó Lionáird, it was just never boring.
Up and down, hot and cold, good and bad, triumph and disaster – all that darkness and light met head-on in a life that burnt out before it ever had a chance to fade away.

In Germany we call the time between Christmas and New Year’s “Zwischen den Jahren” [literally “between the years”] because no one has a clue what day or time it is anyway.
My absolute favourite way to watch the NYC Marathon is through the isolated pro feeds on the race app. No commentary, just listening to the fans lining the course cheering their hearts out. I’m thousands of miles away and still have goosebumps watching.
Is Amanal Petros one of the most accessorised marathoners out there? Signature pearl necklace, glasses on top of his head, five or six rings. It’s obviously common to see on the track, but a lot rarer on the roads, no?

As Mental Health Awareness Month draws to a close, World Athletics publishes findings of study into online abuse of athletes covering Paris Olympic Games.
Got to spent some time with Emmanuel Wanyonyi in Kenya earlier this year. Back then he told us “I’m not ready for now to run a WR.”
Tonight he ran 1:41.11 & moved up to #2 on the 800m all-time list… so watch this space!

Anyone else feel jet lagged? Are we sure the Olympics doesn’t have its own time zone that’s completely detached from all other time zones?

It’s barely lunchtime and I’ve already watched handball, volleyball, hockey, diving, gymnastics and now basketball.
