🇦🇺 After a long standing ovation, 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher pre-prepared and recorded a speech that played throughout the ceremony as he is no longer able to speak for himself due to the disease.
He thanked those who have supported the cause, his family and his friends, describing motor neurone disease as a "beast" that doesn't discriminate but says it lit a fire in him.
"I chose to fight because if I didn't, how could I expect anyone else to?" he said in his pre-recorded message.
"I chose to hope because I believe in the decency and generosity of Australians." 💚💛
