My view:
Paphitisโs disbelief is understandable. A man convicted on 34 felony counts, found liable in a civil case for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll, and associated with repeated corporate bankruptcies was nevertheless returned to the presidency.
Those facts alone demand a serious discussion about political accountability.
Winning an election gives someone the authority to govern. It does not erase their record, establish their integrity or oblige the public to stop challenging them.

Reform UKโs Silence Over Suspended Clacton Councillor: What Does Nigel Farage Know?
Six weeks after Reform UK suspended prominent Clacton councillor Bradley Thompson over what it described as โserious and well-documented allegations of misconductโ, the party has still not publicly explained what happened.
On 23 September 2026, Reform UK announced the suspension of Bradley Thompson, who represents Clacton West and St Osyth on Essex County Council and West Clacton and Jaywick Sands on Tendring District Council.
A key figure in Farageโs Clacton operation
Thompson was no ordinary candidate parachuted into a distant constituency. He was already an established local councillor when he joined Reform UK in January 2025. He was Chair of Reform UKโs Clacton organisation.
Still a councillor, but no explanation
Following his suspension, Thompson ceased representing Reform UK on both Essex County Council and Tendring District Council.
He continues to serve as an independent. Thompson also retains committee appointments, including on the councilโs Licensing and Registration Committee.
What does Farage know?
Thompsonโs position in Farageโs local branch and the multiple political and charity campaign photos beg the questions:
Did Farage know about the allegations before Thompsonโs suspension?
When did Reform UKโs leadership first become aware of the complaints?
When will they release any details?
Reform UK repeatedly promises greater transparency and accountability in public life. They also constantly ask questions the moment thereโs an incident, but when itโs their ownโฆ silence.

I wrote this post just over a year ago when I discovered that Farage had failed to declare any outside income for five months.
We're in an identical position now, one year later.
The last declaration in his Register of Interests is from the 20th of April โ six months ago.
Those three declarations covered his, at the time, recent buy in to Kwasi Kwarteng's crypto platform, Slack BTC and a donation of ยฃ1,749 from entrepreneur, Avi Lasarow.
In 2025 the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Daniel Greenberg, established that Farage had failed to register 17 interests within the required 28-day deadline.
Why is he now pulling the same trick?
Does Farage truly believe himself to be above the law and outside of the rules of his employment?
Farage is not declaring his income.
Why has Farage not been declaring his private security on his Register of Interests? There is no declaration of a gift or donation of private security.
The article says it costs ยฃ1 MILLION per year for this security, but nothing has been declared.
MPs have 28 days in which to register any financial donations on their Parliamentary register, but Farage's last entry to the Register was actually back in May.
So we're being led to believe that the man, who earns a million pounds a year from his outside work, just stopped earning in May?
This stinks.
His most recent declaration was on 31st May 2025 for ยฃ26,817.60 for 12 hours of work at GB News. That's ยฃ2,234.80 per hour, by the way. Man of the people, my behind!
But the more pressing matter is, what happened to his earnings since May?
Is this hubris? Is he trying to get caught out to launch another 'woe is me, everyone hates me' campaign?
Diligent Lee Anderson has declarations coming in on the 8th of September, like a good boy.
Farage has just halted his declarations.
So what are we to take from this? Unclear. But what is clear-cut, is that somebody in Parliament/the media should have spotted this and be investigating. It's a potentially very serious breach of the Code of Conduct and could/should lead to a suspension.
Also, I find it strange that @Telegraph had un-paywalled this article. I assume it has been paid for by Reform.
