Fine. Whatever their aqidah was, it was still better than what we have today. For centuries there was a recognized center. The sultan carried the title of caliph and the custody of the Haramayn, and the Hajj routes ran under Muslim protection. Muslims from Aceh to India to Central Asia appealed to Istanbul when they were in trouble, and sometimes Istanbul answered. Ottoman naval help reached Aceh in the 16th century, and Abdulhamid II built the Hejaz railway with donations from Muslims all over the world. When the caliphate was abolished in 1924, Indian Muslims had just spent years in the Khilafat movement trying to save it. They saw it as theirs, whether or not they were Ottoman subjects.
Sharia courts, a shared legal language, and scholars moving freely across one empire all had an institutional home. Today we have 57 states in the OIC, an organization that issues statements and enforces nothing, while Muslims in Gaza, Xinjiang, and Arakan have no address to appeal to. Say what you want about the Sufi lodges. Nobody was this alone before 1924.
The funniest part is that the same people who cheer the revolt against the Ottomans will tell you to obey the ruler unless you see clear kufr
