As promised, it's time to launch the public beta of the JOS Compositor!
I'm overwhelmed by the response so far. I've been contacted by so many people, from solo artists all the way to major VFX companies like ILM, Weta, Framestore, DNEG, and others. Thank you all for your interest and support!
I've put a tremendous amount of work into this project, but this is still a beta. Things will break, bugs will happen, and finding those issues is exactly what beta testing is for.
**HOW TO JOIN THE BETA**
Register at the bottom of the main page on the website. You'll receive your license by email. Once you have it, open the Help menu in the compositor and load your license.
**WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST**
If you want to participate in the beta, please watch the entire video. It contains important information about the software and the testing process.
**LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE**
I'm starting with 50 beta testers. If demand is high, I may open up additional spots.
Many of you have already reached out asking to try the compositor. I can't keep up with every message, so if you don't get a spot, send me a private message and I'll get you a license.
**A NOTE ABOUT PERFORMANCE AND 3D**
I'm testing on a pretty insane machine, so I have no idea yet how the compositor will perform on less powerful hardware. That's one of the things I want to find out during this beta.
The 3D features are functional, but they're not ready for testing yet. They still need a lot of work, so please leave them alone for now.
**BUG REPORTS AND FEEDBACK**
The documentation on the website should be up to date.
Please don't send bug reports, comments, or suggestions through social media. I'll never be able to keep track of everything that way. Instead, use the bug report, suggestions, and forums sections, accessible through the Help menu.
During the beta, I'll be releasing a new version every morning, with bug fixes and improvements. Check the Help menu regularly to get the latest update.
**ONE LAST THING**
The JOS Compositor has some compatibility with Nuke, but remember: it's not Nuke, and it's not a clone like Natron. This is its own project, with its own approach to compositing.
Thanks again to everyone who's shown interest. Now let's see what happens when we put it into the hands of artists.
Enjoy!

- Meet Linus Torvalds
- Built Linux and Git
- Started programming at the age of 10
- Got frustrated with existing operating systems
- At 21, posted a message online:
“I’m doing a free operating system, just a hobby.”
- The project had bugs and limitations
- He made it open source, so others could contribute
- Received million-dollar offers from apple and others, rejected them all
Today, Linux powers:
• Most of the internet
• Android phones
• Supercomputers
• Servers at NASA, Google, and Amazon
- faced another problem: tools for managing code is slow and messy
- He built a new tool
- That tool became Git
Today:
- Git is the backbone of modern software development
- Started as a hobby.
- Ended up changing the world.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Alex and Annie in person, but I hope to remedy that one day.
I do know that Canada is a better place with them here.
Consider lending your support for their fundraiser :)

After worlds divide, I was crazy enough to write a feature film (not esluna connected) & a first draft of a 9 ep webseries (esluna connected). I completed designs on the feature and started animating the webseries but between paying jobs, just didn’t have time for the webseries
I would love to work with a team on the next project.
Share and spread the word about my solo indie animated feature film that you can watch right here:

Saw this on Linked In…powerful….
We will never forget.
"Dear 77,301,997 Americans who voted for Trump,
Being Canadian has never been about shouting the loudest. We don’t pound our chests or demand attention. We are sometimes like the quiet kid on the playground, just wanting to get along with others. We hold doors, say sorry even when it’s not our fault, and shovel our neighbour’s driveway just because it’s the right thing to do. We believe in fairness, decency, and looking out for one another.
We are the world’s greatest neighbour… and yes, our spelling is the correct one. We show up. In the words of our Prime Minister on Saturday night, “from the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of the Korean Peninsula, from the fields of Flanders to the streets of Kandahar, we have fought and died alongside you during your darkest hours. During the summer of 2005, when Hurricane Katrina ravaged your great city of New Orleans, or mere weeks ago, when we sent water bombers to tackle the wildfires in California, and during the day the world stood still — Sept. 11, 2001 — when we provided refuge to stranded passengers and planes, we were always there, standing with you”.
And yet, here we are – watching your president, a man who built his legacy on bullying, turn his sights on us. He mocks us, belittles us, and treats us like some inconvenience rather than the ally who has stood by you through thick and thin.
It’s easy to mistake our politeness for passivity, or our kindness for weakness. But here’s the thing about the quiet kid on the playground: push that kid far enough, and that kid pushes back.
Canada has never needed to boast about its strength. We just prove it. On battlefields. In boardrooms. On the ice. So, if you think you can push us around and take us for granted – think again. You think we will become your “cherished 51st state” – think again. Underestimate us… that will be fun. Because the quiet kid? The quiet kid remembers. And when the quiet kid finally stands up, the whole playground takes notice.
Now we are pissed.
Sincerely,
Canada"

Introducing Sky3D. An open-source day/night cycle for Godot 4.
Originally written by @JayKuellar for GD3. We resurrected it, ported it to GD4, and are developing it under a new brand name.
We're building it for our game, Out of the Ashes.
#shrinkflation at its best. An unopened packet of Jolly Rancher Gummies for Halloween. The wrapper hasn’t been opened or tampered. It’s just a packet of air.

Congrats to our entire #Xmen97 team - cast and crew - on our momentous #EmmyAward nomination - after THIRTY YEARS!
This was our first nomination for anything EVER - a long time coming. And while we didn’t win the votes of the TV Academy (this time!) it is my sincere hope that we’ve already won the hearts of the people who count most - our incredible, loyal @xmentas fans around the globe - and that is a thing to cherish - for which I am truly grateful.
It was also a true honour to be submitted by @MarvelStudios and @Disney for Outstanding Voice Actor this year for my performance in Episode #5 “Remember It” - my first time ever in the US - as I once won an @ACTRAnational award in Canada for Best Voice Actor (for my performance as Mary Snow in the radio play “Salt Water Moon” by playwright David French).
And it’s such an honour for our new series X-Men ‘97 to be nominated for Outstanding Production based on Episode 5 as well.
It was also a real “pinch me is this real?” moment being present when Dick Van Dyke’s musical special won an Emmy and we all gave him a standing ovation - really, for his lifetime of incredible work. Now 98 he got up on stage to accept and his sense of humour and great spirit were still clear for all to see when he quipped - “Wow. What a lovely audience. I’m 98 and I’m gonna have a memorial some day and you’re all invited - I just don’t know the date yet!” lol.
He reminded me very much of my dear Dad who passed recently at 91 and I miss him every day. But the thing I noticed that they have in common is that twinkle in the eye and childlike glee - right to the end!
If you want to learn more about my own “origin story” and how Rogue and the X-Men have intertwined in my journey to get here, please look for my new memoir #ARoguesTale which is coming out in October. If you live in North America you can also pre-order copies at: indigo.ca/en-ca/a-rogues-tal…
Finally - congrats to ALL of the nominees and winners of this year’s 76th Emmy Awards!
Here’s to the Arts and Creatives EVERYWHERE.
Believe in yourselves and in your dreams - and continue to tell the stories in all mediums that will uplift and inspire a world that sorely needs to have hope that things do - and will - get better.
Keep the faith!
EXCELSIOR!!
