An ATM has been set up in LA to promote David Leitch's HOW TO ROB A BANK’ that gives out free money if people work out the location & PIN code.
A website whoshungryla.com has been set up that will give clues to the ATM's next location in LA.
I've frequently felt like I had something to say about broader immersive experiences that didn't feel right for ARGNet. Finally bit the bullet and started writing about those on my Substack.
Had the most fun with my Heated Rivalry Musical Parody review... mjandersen.substack.com/p/he…
...but I'm probably most proud of my coverage on Big Feelings and the media landscape that helped it capture the imagination of the scene, for a season. mjandersen.substack.com/p/wo…
Just published an article on all of the scavenger hunts I've played in the past year, which also tricked me into reflecting on the past year of writing, a little early. argn.com/2026/10/a_scavenger…
Tales From Woodcreek was my favorite ARG I actively played this year...it's doing so many things I love, and I can't wait to see how the show evolves.
They reached out about sending me my Green Guides badge as thanks for finishing the game, earlier today! argn.com/2026/08/tales_from_…
I think my Ghost Town Alive coverage is the article I'm the most proud of writing this year so far, though - it's an article I've been trying to write for years, and I finally found a way to make it work. argn.com/2026/06/one_of_the_…
My Backrooms coverage eventually got turned into a presentation to the WXO, which was really fun because I will almost always jump at the opportunity to rant about how much I love ARGs.
Particularly impressed by the Yellow Wallpaper zine from this one. argn.com/2026/05/the_backroo…
The second bit of return coverage was on Game Changer's Kickstarter campaign (and associated ARG).
After seeing the campaign's structure, I publicly wondered if Ivan Askwith was involved...and that suspicion was confirmed shortly after. argn.com/2026/06/close_enoug…
And while I rarely do follow-up articles, two stories warranted additional coverage. First up:
The Minecraft King in Yellow ARG, which dropped a sequel (with a fan pairing that showed up in AO3's top ships) argn.com/2026/04/return_of_t…
I also managed to get an article up on the Mr Beast / Salesforce Super Bowl commercial, within a minute of the spot airing. I know a few people who are significantly richer thanks to the game, and the (bot) traffic volume took down my site for a bit. argn.com/2026/02/start_slack…
The year started out strong, with an article talking about Stranger Things' final season, reflecting on the show's various immersive touchpoints through the years.
I even got cited as Conformity Gate evidence a time or two? argn.com/2026/01/the_immersi…
Japanese puzzle enthusiasts played a series of escape rooms in Canada, and talk about the differences in puzzle aesthetics.
Escape Plan in particular must have been wild, that is a very...conversational game. note.com/d_v_osorezan/n/n89a…

trademark lawyers like "babe wake up: prada just dropped $875 safari undies & i need to know if 'safari' is generic for...this"
Taylor Swift threw a series of cryptic words into her Emmys cameo, and I got (indirectly) asked to "solve" it.
So, I did. Or rather, I retroactively created a puzzle solution that technically works, if you squint.
"Michael", you say, "you're grasping at straws. This would only make sense if there was a mythological stag associated with Valhalla.
And to that, I say CHECKMATE. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eik%C3…
