Beyond AFRIDEX 2026…
Romania’s defence industry plans to establish a military equipment manufacturing facility in Nigeria, following discussions with Nigeria’s Minister of Defence and military leadership at AFRIDEX 2026. The proposed investment is expected to deepen bilateral defence cooperation, strengthen local manufacturing and improve access to military equipment.
The exhibition also highlights Nigeria’s growing indigenous defence production, with DICON D7G expanding its output of arms, ammunition and other military equipment. Alongside advances in maritime surveillance technology, these initiatives aim to strengthen national security, reduce reliance on imported defence equipment and create opportunities to supply wider African markets.

#ThisWeekinUSNigeriaHistory in 1980, the United States and Nigeria held trade talks in Washington following then-President Shehu Shagari’s official visit. The talks focused on expanding trade and investment, including U.S. agricultural exports, while supporting Nigeria’s agricultural development.
More than four decades later, both countries continue to strengthen commercial ties in agriculture, infrastructure, the digital economy, and other sectors, creating economic opportunities for Americans and Nigerians. #Freedom250
