🌊On this World Oceans Day HOME Alliance reminds that our oceans are not a testing ground for risky geoengineering experiments
❗Marine geoengineering is not a climate solution, it is a high-risk and speculative intervention in already fragile ocean ecosystem

CIEL condemns the unlawful US & Israel strikes on Iran. We express solidarity for all affected across the region
These attacks violate int'l law, escalate insecurity, & erode the rule of law.

As UNEA7 opens in Nairobi @guardian Editorial spotlights African Ministers’ leadership in calling for a Non Use Agreement to put extreme Solar Geoengineering technologies permanently off the table, and refocus on real solutions to the climate crisis: theguardian.com/commentisfre…
Recent developments inc US-Israeli start-up Stardust’s plans to commercialise & scale up this technology over the next decade, and UK govt funding outdoor experiments through controversial research agency ARIA are deeply concerning..
But solar geoengineering deployment is NOT inevitable - the time to get behind Non Use is now solargeoeng.org
News that Israeli-US start up Stardust Solutions has now raised a hefty $75m, plans to start outdoor solar geoengineering experiments as soon as next spring and appears to be working towards potential deployment this decade is major cause for alarm ciel.org/news/us-israeli-sta…
Stardust and its investors are accelerating a reckless race towards the possibility of perpetual dependency on this extreme and inherently unpredictable technology
It's time to put solar geoengineering off the table for good - the call for a Non-Use Agreement is growing louder and stronger - you can support it here: solargeoeng.org

Marine geoengineering is a dangerous distraction from real, rights-based climate solutions.
CIEL & FOE US urge states to uphold precaution, stop open-ocean experiments, and protect the ocean as a vital climate ally.
🛑 It’s time to hit the brakes.

This brief outlines:
- The scale and scope of marine #geoengineering deployment
- What’s at stake for coastal communities and ecosystems
- How international law restricts deployment and commercialization
- What states must do to uphold precaution and halt open-ocean experiments

These highly speculative techniques would turn the ocean into a laboratory and risk undermining the livelihoods of billions of people.
Yet experiments are on the rise with some projects already selling carbon credits in violation of international agreements.

🌊 Marine Geoengineering is increasingly entering mainstream climate discourse . A new report from CIEL & @foe_us maps where these dangerous technologies may be deployed.
The findings: no ocean basin or coastal state is out of scope.

THREAD: On Friday, Hamas submitted its much-anticipated response to US President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal. Since Israel managed to introduce substantial revisions into the twenty-one point proposal agreed between Trump and a group of Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, changing key wording and removing one clause altogether, the Palestinian movement had been stuck between a very large rock and a very hard place.
