Just wrapped up an incredible week in Singapore with @mo_connection! 🇸🇬🌏
Shared how we use @framer internally and what’s possible with it, explored new places, devoured amazing food, met inspiring people, and even celebrated my first birthday abroad 🎉

Lots of new tool pricing recently. Pricing is pretty hard, but maybe not why you think (greedy VCs!).
In reality it's about the pricing curve. As a startup, you want to keep the starter plans cheap with generous limits so that everyone can use your app, even for a hobby project or if people don't make US salaries.
But that means that the money has to come from companies that need plans with more features, who can afford it. They essentially have to subsidize the starter plans.
This results in plan limits that are carefully designed to make companies end up using the right plans. If you mess this up, your startup might not be able to pay the bills.
However, for regular users, these plan limits can come with a steep jump in price, because larger plans are relatively more expensive. That can feel unfair if you just need this one feature that's in a company plan and suddenly have to pay double.
Every startup is basically trying to find the right balance. It's not ideal, and there might be better ways to price products (which we're always interested in), but I thought it would be helpful to share.

I ❤️ web performance. When we first launched @framer, I could typically find some manual optimizations to speed sites up.
Today I think that 90% of Framer sites are automatically optimized better than I could ever do by hand.
No-code tools have come a long way.
