I just remembered something I did years ago when my woman was doing her national service. She was posted to a remote village where the roads were so bad that she would come home every evening complaining about back pains. I visited her one weekend and couldn’t believe the condition of the roads. I contacted a construction company, brought in engineers and had the entire stretch from her workplace to her house asphalted. I just wanted my woman to travel comfortably. For months, everything was fine until the villagers started misbehaving. People from neighbouring towns were coming to see it. Drivers who had never passed through the village suddenly started using it as a shortcut. What really annoyed me was when the village chief organised a durbar to commission the road and invited my woman to attend as a guest. I didn’t argue with anybody. I simply returned with the same engineers and instructed them to remove the asphalt. We even used the original survey to restore every pothole to its exact position. Of course, I left the road leading directly to my woman’s house untouched. Looking back, I think I overreacted a little. Hmm
