i have been a nithya skeptic for years. i do not think she should be a DSA candidate- she does not push the envelope for socialism. But she was endorsed by 2/3rds of her chapter, and she has now responded to DSA pressure and moved her position to be compliant with BDS.
Nithya Raman has been criticized by DSA members for not supporting BDS. She now says "I believe the best way for working Angelenos to stand in solidarity with Gaza is through non-violent protest, legislative action, and diplomatic pressure, including BDS."

hey could everyone just claim victory for moving nithya after her last statement and move on rather than kamikaze-ing national and LA’s relationship into the side of a mountain for no reason right before election day

Extraordinarily embarrassing
Replying to @petersterne
The resolution on rescinding her endorsement (which narrowly passed 14-13) calls on Raman to meet with DSA-LA leaders on Oct. 31 to explain her position on BDS. If she does not satisfactorily affirm her support for BDS, the NPC will vote on Nov. 1 to force DSA-LA to withdraw its endorsement of her. docs.google.com/document/d/1…

I say when the npc passes two contradictory resos addressing a chapter’s situation (which is embarrassing and stupid) the chapter should listen to the reso that passed by more.
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions tonight regarding Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, setting up processes to potentially force DSA's Los Angeles chapter to rescind its endorsement of her campaign and/or expel her from DSA. Here are copies of the 2 resolutions that passed: Rescinding endorsement: docs.google.com/document/d/1… Expulsion: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

we need a ban on leftists reading too much German or Russian history. It’s getting to the point where it actually prevents ppl from thinking clearly about the actual present. it’s like American boomers and World War II.
The current results of the convention election don’t reflect the fact that SMC split into the Left-SMCs and the Right-SMCs, and the Left-SMCs support World to Winsheviks!

Brother we have already had Zohran, Nithya is is not in front of Z in the war of position but behind him. Vote for her sure, but this idea that it's apart of some great revolutionary plan is actually delusional. We are already past this point, her campaign is a step back!!!
Until the Nithya Raman’s can win how can Lenin’s? These things have to be brought about by lived political experience and struggle for ever greater gains and ever greater candidates. To dismiss the necessity of engaging *present* struggle is to do disservice to *future* struggle.

DSA should have a "Critical Support" option in elections. Something between non-endorsement or an anti-endorsement & full endorsement

Of course there is. Read Geese. Read groundwork blog. Read power map. People all over this org are laying out ways to build a movement beyond weak and ineffective "candidate discipline" but you're not interested. Liberalism can't let go of the individual candidate critique.

.@SenBrianSchatz says that if Democrats take the Senate, the party's left wing needs to be strategic about not proposing things "that the president of the United States is guaranteed to veto." "If we want to be more aspirational, if we want to make more bold policy changes... that's for 2028."
