Ok it seems the theory that they completely predated the Māori might not be true (my mistake, it’s not my area of expertise at all), but they were still enslaved and genocide by the Māori who are now being fetishised as perpetual victims- history is more complicated than that.

It’s so interesting to me how men never apply this logic to women’s misandry. To men, their radicalization to misogyny due to “kill all men” jokes is understandable, but women’s radicalization to misandry due to rape jokes and actual historical oppression isn’t understandable.
