her going “me when i pull the door handle and it shatters” has me in tears
A brand-new employee made a smashing start to her career at a Texas salon, as the glass sliding door she was closing exploded into hundreds of tiny pieces, leaving her client and other employees stunned.

Ashley’s been wanting us to go as Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder to a hallloween party. Today I showed a picture of him to my stylist and she was like “oh, so a haircut that needs a haircut” lmfao. I’ve never heard that before but yeah, exactly

Why didn’t they make the movie about my neighbors leaving their trash cans out in the street a few extra days? That’s been annoying to me sometimes
absolute s-tier opening sentence here

So you see how when you say “people were hurt” they could interpret that as you saying she went to prison for hurting patients, even tho she wasn’t convicted and imprisoned for that. Right?
time for my hottest of all hot takes... the whole movie is about manipulating the viewer to feel bad for her. but she went to prison for a reason. serious fraud, ppl were hurt went in wanting to see the nathan fielder i know and love, but we can't all get what we want

One thing YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING captures pretty well is that everyone thinks they’re a therapist now and are pre-emptively pathologizing themselves and others actions without any training.

been discouraged by the conversation about YCSE. people who left the movie feeling saddened that elizabeth holmes is in prison are not "marks." they are people who glimpsed how cruel prison is even at its most palatable, even when used to cage the least sympathetic person

the thing that annoys me about calling Nathan an "unreliable narrator" is that part of the whole point is that EVERYONE is. the ONLY place you can find a reliable narrator is within fiction, where it can be necessarily constructed that way

Why do people want this to be like some sort of informative piece of reporting on the facts lol. Why would Nathan Fielder ever do that, and why would anyone do that on something already extensively investigated and reported on, for that matter
whenever the masses claim a movie is the “best movie ever,” it becomes so glaringly clear that people wait to be peer pressured into engaging with art + culture. yes, the nathan fielder doc was good. but he did surface anything we didn’t already know? no. not really.

incidentally, this person appears to be a disgraced at-home-rape-kit startup founder who got sued for misleading customers & drove an employee to suicide before becoming some sort of GOP operative
in all seriousness regarding Billy, despite what people may think after watching the doc, i don’t think enough attention was given to the fact that he has effectively become a single father he’s not only responsible for raising the children alone, but also navigating the emotional and practical difficulties of having a spouse who is incarcerated i think he deserves far more credit for holding the two young children together

Something I haven’t seen people mention is Liz almost fully transitions into her real voice over time, which I found really interesting. It was hard to believe she was really going to keep that up at first, but then it’s almost even more surprising how much she dropped it
