example: if you buy something and you don’t like it you can write bad reviews and ask for a refund but it someone gifts you something you don’t like you just say thank you and move on
the whole “don’t like don’t read” argument is kinda silly🤷🏽♀️ any other type of writing is open to criticism (books, articles, scripts etc.) so why do we hold fanfiction writers to a different standard? you certainly don’t have to like the criticism given but it doesn’t seem very productive to say that criticism shouldn’t happen AT ALL
