Jianming Feng, 47, was stabbed to death Friday night in Melbourne while delivering for HungryPanda. He had been in Australia for nine years supporting his wife, two adult children, and elderly father in a nursing home back in Shaanxi. He rarely spent anything on himself and never went home. He planned to return in a year or two for his son’s wedding. On the day he died, he had just finished a video call with his wife. He and another rider confronted a man allegedly tampering with their bikes. He was stabbed and died at the scene. A 51-year-old has been arrested. Colleagues and the Chinese community remember him as hardworking and kind — “Brother Feng.” HungryPanda exports a familiar Chinese platform model: riders treated as contractors with thin protections, coordination and pressure via WeChat (which Chinese police have previously used to contact Australian-based riders and their families during pay disputes), and an ecosystem built around Alipay and WeChat Pay. Customers order and pay through those systems. Earnings and remittances flow back the same way. A man who spent nine years sending money home is dead. The digital tools and business practices that shaped his working life continue operating abroad. Other governments have largely stayed quiet. RIP Jianming Feng.

As you know Barry, Ireland can't even do air policing. If a similiar incident happened in Irish airspace, we would be unable to escort it with jets. As other countries can. Thanks to @fiannafailparty/@FineGael underinvestment in Defence. The lowest budget in Europe.

Singapore's diplomatic ties with Indonesia may be tense recently over haze and energy issues. But it's still business as usual in the bilateral military realm, as both air forces elevated ties with an inaugural joint fighter patrol Patkor Indopura.👌🏽mindef.gov.sg/news-and-event…

Vice Admiral Nancy Lacore defied the odds, winning the race for South Carolina’s First Congressional District. Lacore was fired by Pete Hegseth without cause after 35 years of service to our country. She could have retired, but Lacore wasn’t ready to stop serving. Now she’ll represent South Carolina in Congress, and VoteVets is proud to have had her back.

Americans: angry because it's expensive to fill up the car to drive to the burger place. Europeans: Is this a rebuke of America First? Steadfast support for Ukraine? The end of the Iran war and of unconditional support for Netanyahu?
