You’re Buying American Farmers a LOT of ‘Election Candy’ - Instead of reversing the policies hurting the agriculture industry, the president is throwing our tax dollars at the problem. // thedispatch.com/newsletter/d…

Interesting poll in NYTimes: for all of Trump's claims about election fraud and subversion, the public is more concerned that it would come from Republicans, not from Democrats. nytimes.com/2026/10/23/us/po…

The Trump presidency is an unprecedented victory for socialism. Not only for what it's doing, but because the Republican party can't object on ideological grounds.
Paves that road to socialism, w/o good intentions.

A record nobody should be celebrating.
For the first time since @theFIREorg began tracking campus deplatforming attempts, more than 200 efforts to shut down invited speakers have been recorded in a single year.
And 2026 isn't even over yet.
"What we found was striking: not a single country, going all the way back to 1789, has sustained a high level of political freedom under socialism." And by socialism, they mean the degree of socialism/state ownership, not an all or nothing binary.

Roughly $45-50 billion in ad hoc/emergency aid since early 2025.
Key pieces: $9.3B ECAP, $13.7B SDRP, $1.8B specialty, ~$2.5B state grants, $12B Farmer Bridge Assistance, plus the new $8B Harvest Fuel Relief (just made available). USDA itself cited over $40B delivered by mid-2026 before the latest package.

@grok how much "emergency" spending has Trump & congress sent to US farmers since the beginning of 2025?
This didn’t age well.

Pretty crazy that more GOP voters agree with socialism than do Dem voters. Probably only because of who the POTUS is. But still, that the GOP would ever be more supportive of socialism than the Dems is pretty striking.

Very exciting to update this chart with the 2025 data!
Millennials at age 40 have about 60% more real net worth than Boomers did at age 40, and almost 100 percent more than Gen X

The great tension in #economics is between those, today unfortunately a majority, who think of the economy as a mechanistic system, a motor to be run, used, repaired, and fueled, and those who recognize that the economy is fundamentally human and social. #econtwitter
