Following my recent engagement with the brilliant people at @ARAA_CEDEAO in Lomé, Togo, on scaling humanitarian aid and sustainable school feeding initiatives, I conducted an on-the-spot assessment of local agricultural processors, farming cooperatives, and herder networks across the West African region.
My goal is to translate these regional best practices into an innovative, community-rooted economic model for Lere Federal Constituency.
We shall be pioneering the model in select schools to commence within the 2027 cycle, developing an integrated school feeding model designed to transform our local economy anchored on 4 cornerstones:
• Empowering Herders & Farmers: Direct off-take agreements for locally produced grains and dairy from Lere, creating reliable revenue for our agricultural producers.
• Elevating Quality & Export Standards: Strengthening local processing capacity so Lere products meet the high standards required for #ECOWAS and continental markets under the #AfCFTA .
• Drivng Education & Child Nutrition: Guaranteeing nutritious meals to boost school enrolment and daily attendance across our schools.
• Women's Economic Empowerment: Structuring school canteens to be managed by women-led micro-enterprises, placing financial independence directly into the hands of local women.
By connecting our local production directly to our schools, we build a self-sustaining cycle that feeds our children, empowers our women, and expands the market footprint of Lere's farmers beyond our borders.
Honored to receive a dear friend and partner of Nigeria, Africa, and @ECOWASParliamnt , H.E. President @PR_Diomaye of Senegal, at the heartbeat of our nation. We held fruitful dialogue on strengthening regional unity, democratic leadership, and seamless integration across West Africa.
Speaker @MemounatouI, continues to display exemplary leadership in ensuring that our beloved ECOWAS community unleashes its full potential.
Clean water through the provision of solar-powered water boreholes is coming to fruition in an additional 50 locations across Lere Federal Constituency. This particular phase is now at 60% completion with a 100% completion target of November 2026, as majority of the communities have started utilizing their facilities.
WASH is an issue dear to my heart and I remain committed to Lere becoming ODF by 2027. These facilities provide a sustainable and eco-friendly source of water for our communities improving health and general wellbeing of our populace.

Wawan Rafi often refers to meandering river in the Hausa language. And true to its name, with every rainfall it seems to shift and change trajectory. This makes the engineering design of this bridge construction project masterful. Work is in progress and proceeding well.
Upon the completion of this vital project, it shall link communities such as Dokan Dan Bala, Wawan Rafi, Jahunu in Dan Alhaji Ward, and Kayarda communities such as Goron Dutse, Unbaryam and beyond, whereby farmer's agricultural products can now be linked to markets and community members shall no longer be cut-off from schools and hospitals to get the vital education and healthcare they need to achieve peak potential.
