Derive V3 started with one question: how do you scale an onchain derivatives exchange without moving settlement away from Ethereum? Our answer was to build an application-specific rollup for derivatives, with Celestia for data availability, Succinct for proofs and Ethereum for settlement. Why not just put everything on Ethereum? Derive produces a lot of state, and that grows quickly with activity. Posting all of the underlying data directly to Ethereum would make scaling the exchange much more expensive. V3 posts the data behind state changes to @celestia, while the protocol continues to settle on Ethereum. Why does that data need to exist outside Derive? Because V3 is designed so users can still verify their state and withdraw without depending on Derive’s API or sequencer. If the data only existed in our own database, that guarantee would be much weaker. Celestia gives the protocol somewhere independent to publish the data needed to reconstruct and verify state, while Succinct proofs verify the updates that are ultimately committed to Ethereum. Where does privacy fit? We've been working with the Celestia ecosystem on a design where account data will eventually be encrypted while still giving users what they need to prove their state themselves.
Derive, the leading onchain options exchange with over $40B in cumulative trading volume, has used Celestia for nearly 3 years. With V3 now live, we spoke to the Derive team about what changed in the upgrade and why they continue to build on Celestia. Here's what we learned👇

The NCSC tells us to patch security vulnerabilities. Its parent agency, GCHQ, exploits them to hack targets. When GCHQ discovers a 0-day, does it disclose it to protect the public, or keep it secret to exploit? Isn't this a massive conflict of interest?
The NCSC is encouraging UK organisations to prepare for immediate updating of systems using PHP. Where immediate remediation is not feasible, organisations should consider taking the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. For more⬇️ ncsc.gov.uk/news/critical-se…

I would love to know which 0 days that are now public that the NCSC decided not to disclose. Might do a FOIA tbh

A new era for Celestia begins today. After 2 years in research and development, Fibre is now live. Fibre's ~2B TPS of potential throughput capacity is enough to fit all the sci-fi visions of the agentic economy and high frequency trading onchain.
Fibre is now live on Celestia mainnet. As the biggest upgrade since Celestia’s launch, Fibre delivers the unprecedented scale required to bring global finance and agentic commerce onchain.

Man watching this Bluesky AI fallout makes me feel sorry for @arcalinea for building a successful X competitor but unintentionally attracting the most insufferable communities on the Internet

Getting AI to write code is the easy part. Getting it to review its own work, catch mistakes and keep fixing things without you babysitting it is harder. That's what Recur does. We've been using it at Celestia for months. Give it a go.
I made a thing: Recur I built it for myself, to accelerate my work at @Celestiaorg. It's been my daily driver since August, it builds itself now, and other devs at Celestia have started using it too. So we're making it available to everyone. recur.build

The agentic economy won't grow linearly. It'll go from ~0 to dwarfing the human economy faster than anyone expects. Today's blockspace won't come close to handling that demand. Fibre can. We're not waiting for that future - we're building and experimenting our way there.

🚀 @celestia v10 (Fibre): the countdown to mainnet activation is underway. The signaling process has reached 83.33% of voting power (5/6), starting the 7-day countdown to activation. 📅 Estimated date: October 20, 2026 🕒 03:38 UTC · 05:38 CEST 🧱 Activation block: 15,116,658 The upgrade will activate automatically at that block. The time is approximate and depends on the pace of block production. 🌐 From that point, Fibre will be live on mainnet: a new data availability protocol that runs alongside Layer 1, targeting 1 Tb/s of blockspace. More capacity for applications that need to publish large volumes of data at low cost: 🔹 AI agent payments. 🔹 Micropayments. 🔹 Financial applications at global scale. 🔐 If you have TIA staked, no action is required. 🔎 Follow the countdown block by block in Cumulo’s explorer: cumulo.pro/services/celestia… 🛠️ As a validator committed to Celestia, we continuously monitor the network and are ready for v10. 🤝 If you’re looking for a professional validator, stake your TIA with Cumulo.
🚀 @celestia v10 (Fibre): the mainnet activation process is underway Fibre introduces a new data availability protocol that runs alongside Layer 1, targeting 1 Tb/s of blockspace. A leap in capacity that opens the door to applications needing to publish large volumes of data at low cost: AI agent payments, micropayments and financial applications at global scale. 🗳️ Where are we now? The upgrade is in the signaling phase: validators confirm on-chain that they are ready to upgrade, with their support weighted by voting power. 📊 Progress in this report: 🔹 52.32% of voting power 🔹 41 of 95 validators ⏳ When does it activate? Once 83.33% of voting power (5/6) is reached, a 7-day countdown begins. The upgrade activates automatically at the end of that period. The threshold depends on accumulated voting power, not the number of validators. 🔐 If you have TIA staked, no action is required. 🔎 Follow the process through Cumulo’s Signal Tracker: see which validators have confirmed their readiness and at which block height. cumulo.pro/services/celestia… 🛠️ Cumulo, as a committed validator to the project, we are ready for v10. Imagine if Linus asked AI to draft that email for him instead lol
Linus Torvalds says, rules prohibiting AI usage are “UTTERLY STUPID” and “idiotic”. For the Linux kernel, Torvalds says, “we’re not going to make stupid rules that say ‘you can’t use tools for X’”.

AI-generated code is already better than 99% of the spaghetti code humans write. If AI isn't making you dramatically more productive, that's a skill issue.

They nerfed Opus video creation by making it use the built-in Claude Motion thing by default, instead of scripting from scratch

It’s not “vibe coding” it’s “coding”. “Manual coding” is the name of a dumb hobby where you write garbage code with a keyboard. The obsolete will attempt to hold frame and it’s important to overwhelm them with the correct framing.

Cool idea for a hackathon. The traditional concept of a 'venture' itself will probably soon be obsolete. Rather, we might have autonomous venture factories. shipyard.london/hackathon

The next economy will run at machine speed. Who sets the rules - Big Tech, AI agents, or whoever owns the most tokens? Fibre is our bet on a different future: an open economy fast enough for billions of machines, yet governable by humans. Fast for machines. Free for humans.
Market seems to be waking up to the insane throughput of Fibre, one of the few architectures able to satisfy the mind-numbing scale of an agentic wave of demand.

Back in 2023, I posted about Celestia's core values: users verify for themselves, blockspace for everyone, and no whale can buy the right to rewrite the rules. I think these principles matter even more in a world of autonomous AI agents. forum.celestia.org/t/core-va…
