It would have been a brilliant move. I also think the morons didn't have the ability to distinguish between this and an actual vote for separation. This would have been the negotiating tactic that brought them everything they wanted PLUS staying in the country. What absolute fucking idiots.

With respect, The problem so many people continue to have is that they have faith in their fellow citizens. They believe that - if only media would stop manipulating - Canadians would see the light. They believe that the 85% can't be real because it seems so unbelievable. If only the right "leader" would come along - or be given a chance by the media - Canadians would shift course. They will not. What they need to understand is that we are the 15%. The others are not like us. They will never be like us. The 85% are government-loving pseudo-socialists, who believe that more government intervention is always the answer to everything. They understand nothing about economics. They can't add or even do simple math. They don't understand perspective. They can think only about the next 6 months. They believe national mythologies that are not real. They believe the worst situation is a situation without (enforced) rules: a bylaw without a bylaw officer. A vast majority of them also have a financial stake in the status quo, in one way or another. They feed off handouts. They benefit from 'programs' - and structure their household's entire economics around them (here's lookin' at you, East Coast). They start their own businesses to feed off government largesse. They work directly for government - or did - and now live off the benefits that it provides. They went to university over the last 30 years and were educated by educators who were themselves educated by leftists. There will be no shift or "great awakening" in this country. Canadians do not want one. Even as things deteriorate around them, they will cling even tighter to the status quo. They ignore problems - or they always find an excuse - Covid, Inequality, Climate, War in Ukraine, Donald Trump - an enemy that is always "unprecedented" They never consider that their own policies/responses to these issues may be responsible for their lives becoming harder - more expensive - more difficult for their children. They will not self-reflect. They cannot. So, stop having faith in these people. Stop thinking they can be helped. Stop thinking it can get better. It can't get better because the 85% want it to be exactly how it is - or, at least - they think they do.

Prime Minister Carney’s address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg rested on several foundational errors. The claim that freedom was won “thanks to the heroism of the European resistance” is historically false. Western Europe was liberated by the armed forces of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. The subsequent emancipation of the Soviet empire was the product of the American strategy of containment. Canada’s role was particularly notable: a volunteer force from a country that had never been attacked or threatened by the Axis powers. The European institutions have succeeded in reducing internal economic barriers and managing inter-state cooperation. As an economic administration, however, they have not been a success at all. In 2008 the GDP of Europe and the United States were roughly equal; the United States now stands at 140 percent of the EU’s. Much of this relative decline is attributable to the prolonged suppression of fossil fuels—an agenda Carney himself promoted for years. Carney also omitted the decisive commercial reality: Canada sends roughly 70 percent of its exports to the United States (98% of which is unaffected by the recent tariffs) and only 6 percent to Europe. The United States accounts for half of the Canadian economy; Canada accounts for three percent of theirs. These proportions are not altered by elaborate metaphors about the transplantation of trees between Vimy and Milliken. Until Canada recovers the relative prosperity it enjoyed with the United States a decade ago, there is little strategic sense in the prime minister travelling to the Rhine to deliver a wistful reflection on the failure of Canada and Europe to produce a superior political ethos while remaining economically competitive.

We do now. More MOU bullshit Yes, signing this declaration is legal under Canadian law. pm.gc.ca It is a political declaration of intent, not a ratified treaty that instantly creates unbreakable 100-year legal obligations. Official Canadian government documents describe it as setting out the leaders’ “intention to elevate the relationship” into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a fuller Strategic Partnership Agreement still to be negotiated. pm.gc.ca Why the executive can do this In Canada, conducting foreign affairs and signing international instruments is an executive (Crown) prerogative. The Prime Minister and Cabinet can conclude declarations, letters of intent, and even treaties. Parliament’s role is later and more limited: • Treaties are normally tabled in the House of Commons before ratification (a policy since 2008, not a hard constitutional requirement). • Parliament must pass implementing legislation only if the agreement requires changes to domestic law or new spending authorities. • A vote in the House on a treaty is not legally binding on the government. lop.parl.ca This document does not appear to lock Canada into automatic, multi-decade financial or military commitments that bypass Parliament. Concrete items—military aid packages, loan guarantees, drone production contracts, or changes to immigration rules—still go through the normal budgetary, legislative, and procurement processes. The “100-year” language The century timeframe is political and symbolic, similar to the UK-Ukraine 100-year partnership signed in 2025. That UK agreement includes a treaty that can be terminated by either side with six months’ notice; the accompanying political declaration is not itself legally binding. Canada’s version follows the same pattern: a high-profile political signal of long-term alignment rather than a contract that future governments cannot alter. commonslibrary.parliament.uk Parliament not sitting at the moment of the signing does not make the act illegal. The executive routinely conducts diplomacy and signs documents when the House is adjourned. In short: the Prime Minister has the authority to sign this kind of declaration. It does not override the Constitution, bind future Parliaments indefinitely, or skip the usual requirements for money and legislation. Whether it is wise or affordable is a separate political question.

Ian Lee, as Canada’s counter-tariffs hit: this isn’t a mood. It’s jobs.~45,000 Canadian firms export to the U.S.; 30,000 export only there. $400B in sales, ~2 million jobs. “We are literally playing with fire.” Sales collapse → “You lay off workers.” Ottawa can’t put them all on payroll His fix: get back to the table. “I don’t accept the argument that we can’t negotiate.” Trump has done 19 deals since 2025. “Elbows up is an emotional response. That’s not a policy.” Sovereignty demands? “That was a claim Canada made. I wasn’t in the room.” Greer denies it. Negotiate instead of walking away The real problem is older: “We should never have allowed ourselves to become so dependent. 71% of our exports go to the States.” Diversify later. Jobs first CUSMA abrogation is “not inconceivable.” Business groups are “just terrified.” Today’s tariffs crush small firms first—thinly capitalized, narrow margins, 60%+ of private-sector jobs. “Very short runway. They’re going to be the first to fail.” “We’re playing with the souls and the lives of human beings… This is not a trivial game of ‘he disrespected me.’ We’re way beyond that.” @SprottSchool

🇺🇸 The Boatlift That Was Bigger Than Dunkirk At 10:45 a.m. on September 11, 2001, a Coast Guard lieutenant named Mike Day keyed a radio in New York Harbor and said the only sentence that mattered. “All available boats. This is the United States Coast Guard. Anyone wanting to help with the evacuation of Lower Manhattan, report to Governors Island.” The boats were already coming. The bridges were closed. The tunnels were closed. The subways were dead. South of the towers, hundreds of thousands of people had nowhere left to walk. Some jumped into the Hudson. Some stood on seawalls that were never meant to be docks and waited for anything that floated. Dunkirk took nine days to pull 338,226 Allied soldiers off a beach in 1940. On 9/11, roughly 800 mariners on about 150 vessels moved as many as 500,000 civilians off Manhattan in about nine hours. Ferries. Tugs. Dinner boats. Pilot boats. Yachts. A retired fireboat. Rubber dinghies that held two people. The largest water evacuation in history. NY Waterway did not wait for the official call. After the second plane hit, the whole fleet moved. Captain Rick Thornton nosed his ferry against a seawall that was not a slip and started taking people off. Some of them he pulled out of the river. His company alone carried about 158,000 people to Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Brooklyn, and Queens. On a normal Tuesday they carried 34,000. The Staten Island Ferry moved more than 50,000 people and came back the other way with water, bandages, and men who still had work to do in the dust. The old fireboat John J. Harvey, already retired, tied up near the Museum of Jewish Heritage, took civilians off the seawall, then pumped water when the hydrants downtown died. Lt. Day later admitted what the day required. “I broke more rules that day than probably I’ve enforced in my whole Coast Guard career.” In raw numbers it was bigger than Dunkirk. No boat went down. By nightfall the southern tip of Manhattan had been emptied by people who were not on anyone’s list of heroes when the morning started. They were tug captains. Ferry deckhands. Pilots. A lieutenant with a microphone. Ordinary boats answering one sentence. All available boats.

While everyone’s still barking and triggered about the dachshund line, Bessent quietly said the part that actually matters: “For the first time ever, we brought private companies to the G20.” Goldman. Eli Lilly. The people who actually build things and generate the trillions Then he said this:“National wealth is created by private enterprise… The government doesn’t create wealth. What it does is set up policies that enable private enterprise and the citizenry to thrive.” That’s the entire argument. Carney is trying to sell the opposite product to the same room: a government-directed “Canada Strong Fund,” nation-building projects where Ottawa takes a slice, a sovereign-wealth-style vehicle, and the claim that the state will create the wealth and then let citizens participate. Central planning with better branding You don’t lecture Jamie Dimon and the pharma/industrial CEOs who just explained how they use AI to raise productivity that the bureaucrats will magically now generate the surplus. They already know who creates it Governments can tax it, crowd it, delay it, or get out of the way. They don’t conjure it. Bessent put the actual wealth creators at the table so the bureaucrats would have to hear it Carney is still pitching the opposite. Investors know what has the proven track record @SecScottBessent @MarkJCarney
Judy Trinh just delivered a two and a half-minute infomercial for Mark Carney’s Canada Investment Summit Swanky Four Seasons. Global heavy hitters with “more than $120 trillion in capital.” 33 Americans. Six sovereign wealth funds. Three from China. Premiers as pitchmen. Churchill Falls. Critical minerals. Data centres. “It’s building here. It’s building bold. It’s building now.” And wait—that’s not all... No serious talk of pipelines. No LNG. No defence industrial surge that actually gets built. Just the same nation-building slideshow and the same Carney trick from GFANZ days: add up every dollar those firms manage anywhere on Earth, then act like it’s sitting in a chequebook waiting for Ottawa’s deal book One hundred and thirty trillion dollars. Dr. Evil would blush Remember when Carney was at GFANZ and kept announcing $130 trillion in “committed” climate capital? The actual money that moved into his preferred projects was really just a rounding error. Same movie, new hotel The UAE already showed up with a $70-billion pledge and got told the Major Projects Office wasn’t ready. “Nowhere to put your money.” Now they’re back on the guest list so we can sell them Churchill Falls and a year-round Port of Churchill that still needs to be invented because Churchill is frozen for more than half the year Investors aren’t flying in to clap for slogans. They’re coming to buy something permitted, powered, and buildable. Carney and CTV keep selling the glossy brochure $1 trillion over five years. Sure. Just like the last trillion that fled Canada for legitimately investible pastures over the last decade @MarkJCarney

👨‍🎓 School is in session – the best of Dr. Ian Lee of Carleton University on the 🇨🇦-🇺🇸 trade war. 💣 Lee drops truth bombs on how much 🇨🇦 relies on the 🇺🇸, the actual impact of the booze bans, myth busting the media narrative, that supply mgmt must modified, the role of 🇨🇳 & the serious harm not getting a deal is causing 🇨🇦. 🚗 🪵 What’s striking is how prophetic he was on the auto sector being the true cause of tanking the deal & how extraordinary it was that the 🇺🇸 offered anything on softwood. 🥇 Look forward to future lessons @SprottSchool. I was born and raised in Canada. I came to the US (legally) in 1980 for College and became a green card holder in 1986 and a citizen in 1998. I renounced my Canadian citizenship in 2016 and I am a 100% committed US Citizen. I have only one question for my old compatriots in Canada with regard to this “trade war”… what did you think was going to happen when you tried to flex on Trump? Seriously. Canada’s economy is a rounding error to the US and yet Canada’s trade representatives think they’re a significant world economic player. They are not. Canada is a socialistic shit-hole. Their “free universal heath care” is bankrupt. Need surgery? Wait. Sometimes so long you’ll die before you get it. Work opportunities for young Canadians? Very few. And if this trade war isn’t settled soon, there will be 500,000 layoffs/lost jobs. So, Canada, stop pretending you have negotiating leverage and make a deal. The alternative to that, a US trade war, will crush your economy. Just sayin’

Here: There’s a reason a lion doesn’t wake up one morning, look across the savannah at a 12,000-pound elephant and think: “Today’s the day I teach that bastard a lesson.” It’s not cowardice. It’s understanding leverage. The elephant is bigger. The elephant is stronger. And your motivational speech about standing up for yourself doesn’t magically make the elephant smaller. Never confuse courage with leverage. Canada can be proud, independent and tough. But we’re negotiating with the LARGEST economy on Earth, sitting directly beside us, buying hundreds of billions of dollars of Canadian goods every year. And behind that negotiating position sits the most powerful military apparatus on the planet. That’s not an insult to Canada. That’s arithmetic. You negotiate accordingly. You don’t walk into a heavyweight fight weighing 145 pounds, slap the heavyweight champion across the face, and then give a press conference about how brave you were when you wake up. Trump understands something very simple: Negotiations ultimately happen underneath a hierarchy of economic, political and military power. You don’t have to like that. You don’t have to like him. You don’t even have to think it’s fair. But pretending the hierarchy doesn’t exist doesn’t make Canada stronger. Pick the fight you can win! And if you can’t win it? Make a deal. Then go home and build enough strength that next time, you negotiate from a bigger chair. A 🇨🇦chihuahua barking at an Elephant🇺🇸 might technically be “standing its ground.” It’s also still a chihuahua.

Every day, I see videos on social media of Indians dumping trash all over Canada & USA. One lady compiled a video of multiple Indian offenders dumping couches & bags of rubbish right on the side of the road, throwing trash in rivers, & ditches. This is a cultural problem & it’s exactly why India looks like an open air landfill (see the picture). They don’t even respect their own country, why the hell would they respect ours? Indians see a body of water & immediately think: “must throw trash and human excrement into it”. They have no civic sense, no respect for the environment, no respect for wildlife, & no respect for others. I’m not sure why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to import millions of street 💩’ers & the biggest polluters on the planet into civilized western nations. The cheap labor is not worth polluting the environment & natural resources in our countries. People do not magically change their behavior once they cross a new border, they don’t leave their filthy actions behind, they just bring it with them. Canada has some of the most pristine rivers, lakes, & parks, but every day they are being disrespected & polluted by low IQ browns who worship a monkey god. Send them all home

Presidenta Sheinbaum “has more degrees of freedom to operate than Prime Minister Carney does.” Her freedom flows from a mandate that never depended on fighting Trump. His constraint flows from a mandate he chose to craft that depends on little else.

As a former waterbomber pilot who used to lead an aerial firefighting fleet, I can tell you “send help” is an extremely dishonest framing by the Canadian government. The Canadian government routinely blocks U.S. firefighting companies from attacking fires in Canada, while aggressively sending their government-subsidized aircraft to the U.S. to earn commercial rates from the U.S. taxpayer. It’s big business for them and they run it like a Chinese protectionist racket.
