He changed his tune real fast. This is why holding officials accountable is imperative. They WILL listen if enough voices speak out. PRESSURE THEM.
🚨HUGE: Hakeem Jeffries goes BEYOND impeachment for Trump officials and warns about real criminal prosecution: JEFFRIES: “The statute of limitations is 5 years." THIS is what we need to hear. It’s time to hold these crooks accountable! #AffordabiltyandAccountability

Waitresses especially
Morris Katz tells me ahead of 2028 Dems should take cue from candidates who just won — folks with backgrounds as “teachers, waitresses, firefighters, iron workers and smokejumpers” “This hunger for expanding who’s in the positions of power feels real.” politico.com/news/2026/11/05…

JB giving Hinojosa $1.2 million and watching Greg Abbott get annihilated:
🤖 Made with AI
This will make a lot of folks in Pritzker World happy. Illinois’ governor donated $1.2 million to Hinojosa’s campaign. Recall: Abbott sent busloads of migrants from the border to Chicago in 2022 and 2023 with no coordination. For Pritzker, this race was personal.

This is required reading for all incoming members of Congress and their staffers.
Why should Congressional Democrats investigate corporate America if their mandate is to deliver real economic change? Because investigations are a key catalyst for securing reform and legislation. For much of the last century, Congress used to be the main institutional player working to secure an economy that serves working people. A key tool was oversight. Lawmakers routinely investigated complex markets and major corporations, identifying problems and exposing wrongdoing. A major goal of these investigations was to learn what was driving certain problems and figure out how to fix them. After Democrats took back the House during the first Trump administration in 2019, I joined the House Judiciary Committee as a staffer on the Antitrust Subcommittee. Under the terrific leadership of @RepJerryNadler and then-Rep @davidcicilline, we pursued an 18-month investigation into Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google, securing key evidence of how their business practices were undermining competition and harming people, setting the basis for both lawsuits and proposed legislation. A few lessons from that experience: 1. The quality of legislative oversight depends on the staff and the support of top members to confront power. Committee and Subcommittee Chairs that are focused on getting answers and unafraid to take on powerful corporate interests will make the difference between oversight that doesn’t surrender to their evasion tactics and oversight that aims low or flames out. Even a relatively small number of dogged, talented lawyers ready to dive in can make a big impact. In the 1930s a single congressional lawyer, Ferdinand Pecora, helped reshape our entire banking system by subpoenaing records and interrogating top financiers, including J.P Morgan. The investigation exposed self-dealing, market manipulation, and tax avoidance, and laid the groundwork for foundational New Deal legislation, including the Glass-Steagall Act and the Securities Exchange Act. 2. Eliminating bottlenecks to moving investigations forward is key. For example, the House should make sure that Subcommittee Chairs can issue subpoenas rather than needing the sign-off of the full Committee or its Chair. A credible threat of sending subpoenas is critical for credible oversight. 3. Ensuring that members can develop the muscle to effectively interrogate CEOs requires investing in real preparation. In the lead up to the hearing with Bezos, Pichai, Cook, and Zuckerberg, the Antitrust Subcommittee spent months reviewing millions of documents collected from the firms, interviewing affected parties, briefing members on key evidence, and conducting practice hearings. Members came into the hearing deeply informed and able to rebut and call out CEO dissembling. The result was some of the most effective member questioning of executives we’ve seen in decades. @TheProspect wrote up a great overview: prospect.org/2020/07/30/triu… 4. For decades, institutional capacity in Congress has been extremely weak. Much of this traces back to the Gingrich Revolution, which was effectively the 1995 DOGE-ing of Congress. Republican leadership fired over 600 professional staffers, eliminated the Office of Technology Assessment, and gutted research capacity. None of that capacity was ever meaningfully restored. As a result, members have way fewer resources to develop serious expertise or go deep on a new topic. Members should start rebuilding that capacity so the institution can fully play its Article I role, where Congress can again do serious policy development and legislating and serve as a real check on the executive and judicial branches. 5. AI markets should be high on the list of investigations. The business decisions of the major AI firms have huge public ramifications, yet the public is at a severe informational disadvantage when it comes to how these markets work and the choices these firms are making. A congressional investigation will help ensure future legislative action is based on a more complete view of what is going on rather than selective and partial corporate disclosures.

Abolish the Senate filibuster now. It’s the single most important thing Democrats can do right now. And this is the ideal moment to do it. 🧵

Warren op-ed arguing Dems should step on the gas: "Some Democrats have already argued that it’s wasted energy to send bold policy changes to the Trump White House. I think that’s just plain wrong...Trump says he welcomes the nickname “Mr. Veto.” Well, let’s test that out by passing legislation the American people support to make life more affordable and our government less corrupt." time.com/article/2026/11/05/…

I am a scholar in the failed post civil war reconstruction, and I did my masters thesis on the damage that failure and unaccountable conservatives have done to this country for the last 150yrs to this day, and we are on a precipice here again. America must stop allowing capitalism to preclude democracy, and hold the robber barons, racists, murderers, and corrupt politicians accountable, or this “revolutionary” election doesn’t mean shit.

Hasan Piker's message to @TheDemocrats in the wake of the power they secured on Tuesday night. He wants the Democrats to put belt to ass on the Republican Party and the Trump regime: "PUT BELT TO ASS! Ten years from when he went down that dogshit golden escalator. Ten fucking years of fucking destroying this country even when he was out of office. Ten years, we have sat around and had to eat shit. We have never had this resounding of a victory. If the Democrats do not use the real people's mandate that we gave them on Tuesday, we will make them follow through. This is a democracy. We will make sure you hold them to account and if you don't hold them to account, we'll hold YOU to account. We're going to continue mobilizing. Put Jon Ossoff's sexy ass up on that fucking podium and put him to fucking work! He's so goddamn good at grilling people for the cameras; I want his fat ass sitting on a goddamn podium grilling the shit out of these people. This is not about revenge. This is not about vengeance. This is about justice. This is about law and order."

Hakeem Jeffries on Morning Joe: The American people don't want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive. We ran on affordability, we won on affordability, and now it's our job to govern on affordability.

Democrats should do the Stefanik college president hearings in reverse. Get college presidents on the record saying that students have the right to peacefully protest and to say controversial--even offensive-- things. Get them on the record that scholars should not punished for their views and that universities will protect foreign students targeted for their views. Demand that the last three years of McCarthyism and cowardice end now.

I cant stress that I never once heard anything about unity at any door I knocked in the multiple swing districts I canvassed in and all of which turned blue.
Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Zohran Mamdani: “It’s not enough for us as Democrats to win power. We have to use that power to deliver change that Americans can feel in their wallets. When you look at these campaigns, if we want to speak about James Talarico, he campaigned on a vision for universal childcare. If you want to talk about Keisha Lance Bottoms, she campaigned on a vision of cutting red tape to build housing. If you want to talk about Jocelyn Benson, she campaigned on a moratorium for data centers. What I’m excited to see now is a recognition that the work is only just starting and this has to be delivered for working people across the country”
