UNDRIP is the 2007 UN declaration outlining global Indigenous rights standards, including free, prior and informed consent. It is not automatically binding.
DRIPA is BC’s 2019 law requiring the province to align its laws with UNDRIP, develop action plans, and allow joint or consent-based decision agreements.
Supporters of repeal argue it has increased litigation and uncertainty that stalls projects. Removing it could clear paths for negotiated economic partnerships and resource development, creating jobs and revenue shared with First Nations, while section 35 constitutional rights stay in force.

🇮🇱 Netanyahu is begging his base to get out and vote as Israel heads to the polls
He's freaking out over what he says is high Arab turnout, and telling right-wing voters that voting for Likud "is a matter of life and death for us."
Same playbook as 2015, when he said Arab voters were coming out "in droves".

A senior State Department official outlined a U.S.-backed plan Monday for presidential elections in Venezuela, emphasizing that major judicial and electoral reforms must take place before voters return to the polls.
During a press briefing, the unnamed official said the administration aims to replace the 32 magistrates on Venezuela's Supreme Tribunal of Justice by mid-December, followed by an overhaul of the National Electoral Council.
Under the proposal, the restructured electoral body would no longer have the authority to disqualify candidates or political parties and would instead focus on administering elections and counting votes.

I’m sure ole @WabKinew will pull the plug on this idea the second any PM says no more Indian Act, no more race based ID, or tax code or justice system or property rights restrictions & yes, now every CDN is completely equal.
Wab Kinew calls on Ottawa to abolish Indian Act: "I'm not sure if that lines up with your vision of Canada, that we still have a race-based form of identification in this country. It's long overdue that we have a relationship with Indigenous peoples in Canada that reflects who we are as Canadians today."

Elon Musk predicts that by 2031, AI could surpass the combined intelligence of all humans, with up to a billion humanoid robots in the world.
He also expects the global economy to potentially double in just five or six years.
If his predictions come true, the next decade could change civilization as we know it.

A majority BC government can repeal DRIPA by introducing and passing ordinary legislation in the Assembly, as it is not constitutional.
Reconciliation can then proceed through modern treaties, impact-benefit agreements, and constitutional section 35 duties of consultation and accommodation. These create certainty for private property, tenures, and investment while enabling economic partnerships and revenue sharing with First Nations.

I may be misunderstanding it but can’t Canada just treat it like a departure tax? So the tribes would get FMV at the time the land ceased to be theirs. Not FMV today.

hah, this bill set relationships back decades. Destroyed confidence in the economy and the real estate market. Put in question title rights, which is literally what the western world was built upon. Private title should have never entered the conversation here.

He is incensed because DRIPA gives him veto rights over virtually everything in BC. That’s why it is undemocratic and must be repealed.
