Noir 1.0 is live.
A more reliable foundation for zero-knowledge applications: stable language, versioned toolchain, audited compiler.
Developers can build and iterate predictably as they create the next wave of privacy-preserving apps.

An example of using a pattern language. When we speak the language, our "sentences" are implementable compositions.

When people ask me why I keep building with @aztecnetwork and @NoirLang after 2 years, I tell them: privacy is one of those things where the difference between "real" and "marketing" is invisible to most users but brutally obvious to developers.
A quick background on me: I spent years at Disney + Hotstar building systems used by hundreds of millions of people, and I've now been building in crypto for the last 6 years. I've seen what it takes to build infrastructure that actually works at scale and what it takes to pretend you do.
Here's the uncomfortable truth: most "privacy-focused" chains today(you know which I’m talking about) have superficial privacy at best. A centralized sequencer. No client-side proving. A privacy toggle that mostly exists in the marketing deck. That's fine for fooling retail traders chasing the hot narrative, but ecosystem developers see right through it.
Real privacy tech is genuinely hard. It requires:
• Decentralization from day one, not as a roadmap promise
• Client-side proving as a first-class primitive, not an afterthought
• Years of unglamorous engineering, audits, and iteration before anything ships
That's exactly what Aztec has been quietly building for years. No hype cycles, no narrative-chasing, just deep, foundational work on true programmable privacy. As a developer who's actually built on the stack, I have tremendous respect for the team.
One wish: I'd love to see more open, honest discussion in this space about the difference between actual privacy and superficial privacy. The bar for calling yourself "privacy-focused" should be higher.
And a special shoutout tremendous respect for @zcash as well. The OGs who proved private digital money was possible. The space stands on their shoulders.
Privacy isn't a feature. It's an architecture. Build accordingly.
SWE then: turn manual processes into automated ones
SWE now: turn non-deterministic processes into deterministic ones
SWE is dead, long live SWE

Software is solved but every other website hangs on a page that looks like this, despite flawless connections on modern network infrastructure capable of sending gigabits per second
it blows my mind how many people get on here and start giving advice
i can barely figure out what we should be doing and how and every week things change
and anything i do find conviction on is rarely generalizable
but you all got advice for me

zk.money is back.
In 2021, zk.money brought private transactions to Ethereum: 75,000+ wallets and $100M in volume.
Today it relaunches on the fully decentralized Aztec Network.

Today I'm parting ways with Fly.io. It's been a privilege. I'm off to tilt at a big old windmill with Kurt, again.

time to play with Jev again, I guess. these last 10 months have been a lot of fun but also js-framework-fatigue coded ☕️ 👴

My country's social security data has apparently just been massively leaked. I'm begging you all please stop collecting and storing data you don't need to run your business. There are ways.

We have the technology to solve this. Zero knowledge proofs and private networks like @aztecnetwork enable non-custodial data where products keep sensitive data with the *user* and zk proofs do all the checks

one of these apps must adopt zk passport so everyone follows suit
