Jannik Sinner is now the only active ATP player not named Novak or Rafa to achieve 10+ wins versus top 5 in the same season.
🇷🇸 Djokovic - 16 (2015); 13 (2011, 2012)
🇪🇸 Nadal - 12 (2013); 11 (2008)
🇮🇹 SINNER - 10 (2023)

Noah Lyles on backlash from ‘World Champions’ comment:
“Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home. This is an NBA conversation… To be honest, I truly think the NBA is the best… There’s the national side and there’s the world side, and you can’t have the world championship title without facing the rest of the world.”

Something completely different. It's very amusing to me, to see people defending the Højlund fee (85M), while they - mostly in hindsight - were critical of Vlahović's fee (82M).
So I've gathered a bunch of interesting facts, just to make things spicy.
Before anyone brings up the age difference. Vlahović turned 22 on the day of the transfer. Højlund is now 20.5 years old. So 1.5 years between them.
Vlahović at that point had scored 44 goals in Serie A. Højlund has 9.
Of course Vlahović spent more time in Serie A, so to be fair we can look at Højlund's total league goal record, which is 18 (9 in the 🇦🇹 Bundesliga).
To make it even more fair, we look at p/90 stats, Vlahović had 0.61 in Serie A, Højlund 0.42 in Serie A, 🇦🇹 Bundesliga & 🇩🇰 Superligaen.
I know, some smartass will say, 'but pens'.. - which by the way is also a skill - Vlahović scored 12, Højlund 1.
This puts Vlahović on 0.44 p/90. Højlund on 0.4. Vlahović obviously against better competition.
Final interesting fact. Vlahović scored as many Serie A goals in the last 9 matches he played for Fiorentina (9) as Højlund did in an entire season.
The numbers don't paint a pretty picture I'm afraid. I'm not saying Højlund will be a flop. Far from it. From what I've seen, he's a great prospect, but if he does, I'll be there for the backtracking. 😀
To close off, don't write off Vlahović after a sub-par season in a system he clearly doesn't fit in, riddled by injuries nearly all season. He's still only 23 & he will be back.
