“Be the change you wish to see in the world…” With all the chaos in the world today, who do I need to be to effect the change I want to see? #EmotionalSobriety #emotionalintelligence #adaptivebehaviors @myLifeLink1

I subconsciously seek “problems” so I can access my “thought addiction” to “not good enough,”which inadvertently leads to disconnection and resentment…this is a dangerous viscous cycle! @myLifeLink1 #EmotionalSobriety #EmotionalIntelligence
I’m addicted to my negative thinking which begets my negative emotional states…it is in my behaviors that I find my power…if I choose adaptive behaviors I will reshape my thinking and subsequent emotional states…@myLifeLink1 #EmotionalSobriety

I struggle with relaxing… I always feel like I need to be doing something. This comes from my addiction to “not good enough” and my need for achievement to access validation which in my family equated to love and connection. @myLifeLink1 #emotionalhealth #emotionalintelligence

Am I capable of “being” a person in this world, who behaves in a manner that creates the extraordinary for self as well as others? Yes! Yes I am! Who do you choose to be today? #emotionalhealth @myLifeLink1 #EmotionalSobriety

The “stories” I have about myself (ie “not good enough”) are often untrue and in the past resulted in maladaptive behaviors…today these same “stories” are opportunities for growth and connection with the world! #EmotionalSobriety @myLifeLink1

Treat the “thought” addictions and we now have a solution for the “emotional/feeling” addictions as well as the “behavioral/substance” addictions!!! @myLifeLink1 #mentalhealth #addiction #EmotionalSobriety

As children we develop “thought” addictions (ie “not good enough”) which beget “emotional/feeling“ addictions (ie anxiety, depression), which lead to “behavioral” (ie social media, self harm) and “substance” addictions (ie food, drugs)…

The addicted brain is powerless over the substance that is abused (reward circuit) however the addict becomes empowered to choose adaptive behaviors in recovery. Recovery is empowerment! Choose #EmotionalSobriety and see the extraordinary life that is possible! @myLifeLink1

I learned in childhood that “feelings” don’t get me connection… “Achievements” on the other hand do! Connection with my parents was through “achieving” not “feeling”…so am I surprised that I continue to seek “achievement” rather than simply “feel” my “feelings!” @myLifeLink1

What I see today is that I “ intellectualize” every aspect of life so that I don’t have to “feel” or be “vulnerable” with others…choosing “vulnerability” and staying in my “feelings” is where my growth will occur! @myLifeLink1 #EmotionalSobriety
Humans by their very nature are “relief-seeking” missiles…it is helpful to remind ourselves that all types of emotions serve evolutionary purposes. This will help us navigate the negative emotional states and embrace the positive ones! @myLifeLink1

As I always say, “possibility lies within uncomfortability!” Walking into the negative emotional states, finding out why and where they come from, confronting those aspects and moving forward allows for the extraordinary! #EmotionalSobriety #emotionalintelligence @myLifeLink1

Substance and behavioral addictions are merely a person’s solution to underlying emotional breakdowns…treat the upstream emotional components and we will resolve the downstream consequences of substance and behavioral addictions…#EmotionalSobriety @myLifeLink1
I often ask myself before tough conversations if I am able to communicate my feelings in a manner that is consistent with love and connection without defending myself, justifying or rationalizing…#EmotionalSobriety @myLifeLink1

Imagine a world where all humans could continuously choose behaviors that are in alignment with “love” for each other and a desire for “connection” irrespective of how they are “feeling…” #EmotionalSobriety is the key to this process! @myLifeLink1
So, I’ve reached the 6-month milestone in my sobriety journey. I am so proud of me right now I’m gonna go make myself a pot of coffee.
