Completely heartbreaking. What must Najmeh and so many thousands of innocent Iranian kids like her be thinking about the total lack of interest among the social justice warriors and pontificating celebrities in the west. Or when they see all those feeble minded westerners plodding along on mass marches surrounded by the very flag of their oppressors.

This is the voice of Najmeh Amini, a 23 year old accounting student, speaking from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. In her voice message she says: «Be my voice. I am an innocent girl, a young woman full of hopes and dreams.»
Najmeh is one of the detainees of the January uprising .
She spent months in detention without a verdict, denied access to a lawyer of her choice and pressured during interrogation. In August, her trial was held at the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad on charges of «assembly and collusion» and «insulting sacred values.»
She said in her voice message that her death sentence was issued on September 16, 2026.
In her own words: «People, I only want justice and the chance to defend myself.» And this is her dream: «Before the rope ends my life, let me see my Iran prosperous and free.»
Be her voice and all of political prisoners, especially those at risk of execution.

My vote on Brexit was affected by disinformation. I voted Remain because I was told if Leave won there would be terrible consequences.
The BoE Governor told me he would raise interest rates - he lowered them.
The Chancellor said he'd have an emergency budget - he didn't.
The Treasury said unemployment would go up - it went down.
Goldman Sachs and others said they would pull out of Britain - they spent billions on new HQs
The Chief Executive of the NHS Alliance said there would be an epidemic of super-gonorrhoea.
As for foreign interference - The EU, the US and Irish Presidents etc etc all weighed in on the side of Remain.

Does anyone remember before the election, when Labour promised they would be careful with our money?
They promised us they had fiscal rules.
They promised no return to huge borrowing.
They promised our kids wouldn't inherit this huge debt.

In just a few months, Labour has delivered major wins for its union donors: easier strike action and inflation busting, unconditional pay rises for rail workers.
Now, after trying to postpone elections it feared losing, Labour wants to rewrite donation rules retrospectively to hobble its opponents
Labour takes the money, changes the rules for its own donors (it has plenty of form on it) then with a straight face, bleats about democracy being bought.

Despite being a political journalist often giving his solidly dull views on TV, Steve Richards still tweeted support for Burnham not answering media questions after his “ big” speech.
I presume Mr Richards odd support is because didn’t want to damage the chances of the FOUR members of his family who will be looking for preferment when the Nob of the North moves to No.10.
