When Ukraine destroys Russian data centers, hoards of aggressive right-wing bots disappear, and Twitter becomes much friendlier. Isn’t that interesting? So much of our politics is driven by the internet, and so much of the internet is driven by Russians who want to hurt us. Shouldn’t we do something about that, given that we know it?

Well, it’s a quick take, and no doubt data will come in, but it sure looks like based on today’s evidence that a lot of pro-Trump and pro-AfD bot work depends directly on Russian data centers.

I do not think many people outside highly wonky circles understand the degree to which the US Administration is engaging in Russian-style hybrid warfare against Canada. Attempting to provoke secession as part of an annexation campaign is not a small deal.

So the news today is that both the Alberta separatists and the Quebec separatists have been holding (or seeking) meetings with the Trump administration — colluding with a foreign power in the service of its ambition to break up the country and absorb it piece by piece. For how long are we going to continue to treat this as a legitimate political “option”?

A Michigan delegation travelled to Calgary to sell separatists on software developed for Republicans to get out the vote – and how it could be used to wrench Alberta from Confederation.
For David Parker, an organizer for Alberta separation, the software was the path to victory – one that ultimately resulted in a massive privacy breach involving the sensitive personal data of nearly three million Albertans.
But Parker’s embrace of the Michigan delegation is evidence of a pattern: separatist factions in Alberta eager to engage the U.S. in their plans for secession, and American actors willing to assist, either privately or openly.
Through interviews with The Globe on both sides of the border, people involved in politics, the corporate sector and Alberta’s pursuit of separatism have described persistent efforts by figures in the U.S. administration and conservative political establishment to support groups seeking American expansionism and independence for Alberta.

For emphasis: the Trump Administration is not “mediating the dispute” between Russia and Ukraine. The Trump Administration is working actively to help Russia to achieve its goals in the war, and hopes that it can actively benefit financially from the consequences of what will follow. The Trump Administration is also actively supporting the AFD in Germany, and right wing parties throughout Europe and the rest of the world, including Canada. This policy has been clearly articulated in the US National Security Strategy which was published by the State Department in December of 2025. This needs to sink in, and is part and parcel of The Great Disruption.
