I’m queer. I’ve grappled with that for years and wondered whether I fit in anywhere, because I’ve always felt I wasn’t queer enough. I truly believe there are a thousand ways to represent queerness without making it about physical intimacy. That’s why I’ve always felt this could work for NutHong, even if they never wanted to do intimate scenes.
What I can’t stand behind is the erasure of queerness and being played with. GMMTV has a habit of marketing “non-BL” pairings that are still very much coded as BL couples. They rely on the not-knowing and the will-they-won’t-they, keeping things deliberately unclear in the hope of drawing in viewers from both sides. That has always been the issue for me.
I have no problem with NH keeping it casual and sticking to friendship tropes. Quite the opposite: I think the world sorely lacks beautiful male friendships full of vulnerability and easy intimacy. But keeping things vague and ambiguous, with strong romantic undertones and parallels, doesn’t sit right with me. It makes me feel like my community is being used with no payoff.
IWTHYH is a deeply queer story at its core, and I would love to see it on screen, whatever Winston and Max’s relationship status turns out to be. But I need that status to be clear to truly enjoy the show. I can’t spend however many episodes it runs suspended in expectation. I’m a shipper at heart, and I’ll always see the romantic undertones. If it’s marketed as a friendship, then it’s on me if I read too much into it and see things that aren’t really there (as we kind of did with JunDylan). But if it stays unclear on purpose, you can’t blame people for seeing subtext and parallels, drawing conclusions, or expecting it to be more than it is. It’s a shame, because it looks like such a beautiful and important story. Love has no age. Love takes many, many forms, and every one of them deserves to be portrayed beautifully. I have no doubt everyone involved would do a magnificent job.
The reality is that NH have been shipped since the Project Alpha days. They’ve been marketed as a duo for the past year, even more so in recent weeks and months. They’re also playing characters who are canonically queer and in love, which raises the question of where 21 is headed and whether 23 will be acknowledged at all.
Friendship only? That’s fine. Not acting together? Also fine. Other partners? Count me in, and I’ll warmly welcome whoever comes along. BLs together? That would be a blessing, because their natural chemistry is already amazing. I’m fine with pretty much anything, as long as queer characters aren’t erased.
I’m willing to follow you wherever you choose to go. All I ask is not to be toyed with or kept on edge by deliberate uncertainty. And if you need time to decide, that’s completely fine too.
All I need is transparency and clarity.
platonic relationships ARE just as important as romantic relationships (i’d argue even more so in my experience but that’s beside the point) but that’s not where people’s disappointment lies. let’s stop twisting words and throwing terms like fetishisers around like its nothing

cos people still dont understand my point, i love and want to celebrate platonic love. my issue now is what happens next? nuthong get photocards, a mascot to represent a child, a fancon, and coworkers shipping them romantically? is this not queerbaiting in and of itself?
iwhyh is a BEAUTIFUL story if done right, if not for this whole cp system i would be over the moon nh chose it. but now p'jojo deleted his tweet, and nh will continue to be marketed as a pair no different than how bl cps are marketed, i am once again asking will they wont they?
before i log out again, ill just say that it is good that iwhyh's premise has been cleared up and the show as a standalone is not queerbaiting and we won't be strung along by it. the future of nuthong's work and projects tgt as a pair remain ambiguous and i don't appreciate that.
platonic soulmates are great for as long as you don't imply any ambiguous romantic implications. my issue lies with how gmmtv moves, promoting fixed bromance pairs the exact same way bl cps are promoted. that in itself is still queerbaiting and this show is an avenue for it.

you have disappointed me and the queer community greatly. so much for being a safe space. @nnutdan @hongshihoshi03
yeah im gonna be ia on here for a While cos i genuinely feel the physical urge to throw up and that's just not healthy for me lmao. sorry tu i will still watch shth for you!! i just cant be in this space rn slkjdfs
i dont want iwhyh to be cancelled btw it's a fucking beautiful plot and i was sat regardless of nuthong being the leads. but if nuthong arent man enough to go full bl with wintonmax then just change the damn cast bruh let's not ruin this story jebal
my only question is why do bromance when there is the option to do nothing at all? @nnutdan @hongshihoshi03 this doesnt take away from the queerness of i wanna hold your hand as a whole, that is an important story to tell. but i ask @JojoTichakorn , is it not a disservice to +
it's not too late to change wintonmax to romance @JojoTichakorn and i pray you as a queer man understand where we're coming from. @nnutdan @hongshihoshi03 your fans are mostly queer, your peers are queer, don't you think we deserve respect in that regard?
i will continue to support you as lykn, that doesnt change. but i cannot in good conscience support queerbaiting. it's not too late to rethink this and do bl. we WILL SUPPORT YOU when you support the queer community wholly. @nnutdan @hongshihoshi03
