Psychopathy is a well-known construct to many criminologists, psychologists, criminal justice practitioners. But when it comes to working with the victims of pathological narcissistic abuse, very few Psychotherapists have a clue of what they are dealing with.

That was a scary realisation for me; I remember sitting there, crying to the therapist and saying “I don’t even recognise who I am anymore.” I had no idea I was so metaphorically beaten down; they chip away at you bit by bit over time so you rationalise it and barely notice.

#Gaslighting you about WHO YOU ARE happens as a matter of course in a #NarcissisticAbuse #relationship.
When you are consistently told (untrue) things abut yourself over time, you may come to believe them & the view you have of yourself changes.
Cruelty here Fam, cruelty.

Narcissists will blame you, gaslight you, judge you, weaken your self-esteem, and turn you into an extension of their ego. You will feel worthless and afraid that you will never find someone to love you. This is also when they tell you "that's just how I am, take it or leave it."

Psychopaths lack compassion, bonding, love, shame and guilt. When they harm others, they lack remorse. Even though they are emotionally impaired, they are generally cognitively intact. This makes them very dangerous abusers.

This is the last photo I took of Keira on Feb 7 before releasing her into her father's care. He killed her on the 9th. He had a history of domestic violence. The Judge "didn't think it was relevant." I miss her deeply every minute of every day. Unsafe contact needs to end. Period

Thankfully the courts have seen through the narcissistic, coercively controlling behaviour for a change, and ruled accordingly. Now they must teach family court judges how to do the same. 🙏

Narcissistic women are every bit as egotistical as their male counterparts. One of the most cited reasons given for women abusing their partners is to do with their ego & low self-esteem issues, & of course, their need to dominate & control their partner.

Is there such a thing as "BATTERED MAN SYNDROME. Hell "YES". Protecting only female victims is not protecting the children at all, that is a misnomer. By ignoring male victims, we are leaving children unprotected from their narcissistic mothers & grandmothers in the family home.

A lot of misinformation about the #MotherAndBabyHome Bill last night. Minister O’ Gorman’s statement outlines clearly the intention of the Bill and his and this Government’s intention to work with survivors and those affected by institutional abuse. @rodericogorman

This time last year my mother took the huge step to speak out about the #coercivecontrol she suffered after winning her freedom from prison.
Sat in another room watching helplessly I was immensely proud as she offered advice to victims that she would have wanted.
