Doom from SI or some kind of “everyone enters the Matrix” utopian-dystopian outcome would be the ultimate victory of materialism and nihilism over humanity and might logically follow as inevitable under these metaphysical assumptions.

this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical
i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs
but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now.
it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them
the last 6 months alone:
- a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months)
- a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months
- a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year
- a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3
- retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3
- an ai-designed drug entered phase 3
- a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3
- an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved
- a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney
- human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave
we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday
stick around, it's going to get weird

Did science really kill God?
The Enlightenment tells us atheism is the logical result of science: after Copernicus, Newton and Darwin, belief simply lost its credibility.
Tomer Persico, author of “In God's Image”, says that story is a delusion. Drawing on thinkers from Voltaire to Nietzsche, he argues that atheism's rise in the West owes less to science than to religious values it has never escaped.

This includes our present-day political technologies.

For months, everyone has been talking about Peter Thiel’s secretive Antichrist lectures in Nashville. @gb_rango attended all four off-the-record lectures, held inside the historic Grand Lodge of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons.
Now, with Thiel’s blessing: a comprehensive, firsthand reconstruction of his sprawling theory of the end times, from AI doomers and one-world government to the fate of America.

Peter Thiel is worried about the Antichrist. For the last four Mondays, he held court for the latest of his lectures on that subject in, of all places, Nashville, Tennessee.
@carsonjbecker reports on the lectures, the crowd, and the scenes that unfolded in Nashville.

Determinism in its most distilled form is the subconscious yearning to return back to the world of Eden from before the fall, where one need never to decide because all possible decisions have already been made for you.

Of course, but evidence has degrees of confidence and I merely seek to climb. ARPA almost funded her work and was no doubt tracking it. It seems plausible that she helped turn the funding back on.
3 years ago I listened to McCarthy telling McCorduck in his '74/75 interviews. I claimed, against the whole AI field and all its history tellers, that he wasn't the first to use the term in the modern sense.
A couple months ago I found that was indeed the case (Hamilton, Moon of the Unforgotten, 1951).
This, and all of my research, has left me confident that the history of AI, cybernetics (aka teleology) and computing science in general is possible poor. I'll see what I find.

Zoomers see the boomer fascination with giving and talking about directions, even when everyone has Google maps, as insane. But boomers aren't talking about street names and traffic for cartography sake. They do it to form bonds, establish locality, create shares language. The Boomer urge to tell you what side street to take this time of day is them trying to for mind meld with you. Like it or not? It's the vestigial limb of an ancient bonding strategy which zoomers and even millennials have lost access too to their detriment. It's the tip of the iceberg of social rituals that previously held societies together and which the boomers intentionally dissolved once they used it to establish themselves.
