In January 2010, comedian Artie Lange was found bleeding inside his apartment in Hoboken, New Jersey, after a suicide attempt.
His mother found him just in time. He was rushed to the hospital and barely survived. It wasn't the first time he had tried to end his life.
Behind the laughs, Lange had been battling heroin and cocaine addiction for years. Surviving didn't end that fight.
Over the next decade, he was arrested several times, went in and out of rehab and spent time in jail.
The drugs also left their mark on his face. After more than 30 years of cocaine and heroin use, his nose collapsed.
By 2019, the man who once sat next to Howard Stern was living in a halfway house, pumping gas and working on a garbage crew.
He eventually got sober, went back to stand-up and started a podcast called "Halfway House." Since 2022, he has mostly stayed out of the spotlight.
