US Law Enforcement agencies (FBI, USSS, IRS and more) provided vital help in this incident, including tracking, freezing, etc. A tweet can’t fully express our gratitude. Many crypto bros may not realize, a lot of the "why bitcoin didn't drop more?" credit goes to them. 🙏
The FBI is releasing information advising the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) was responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion USD in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, on or about October 29, 2026. The FBI refers to this specific North Korean malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor." The FBI, together with partners at the USSS and IRS-CI, has observed TraderTraitor actors converting stolen assets primarily into Ethereum (ETH). It is expected these assets will then be further laundered by converting them using DeFi and instant swap services as they prepare them for further laundering stages. How You Can Help: FBI, USSS, and IRS-CI are urging private sector entities including THORNode operators, RPC node operators, instant exchanges, DeFi services, blockchain analytics firms, and other virtual asset service providers to block transactions with or derived from addresses TraderTraitor actors are using to launder these stolen assets. A list of addresses associated with this activity is available here: fbi.gov/investigate/cyber/al…

Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified. The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far. Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete. As an immediate precaution, Binance has: - temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed; - revoked the affected address authorisation; - engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice. Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions. binance.com/en/support/annou…

Big news as Aviva Investors announces the launch of a tokenized share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund is Aviva Investors’ largest fund at around £22 billion in assets under management, and this move marks an expansion of Aviva Investors’ tokenised fund offering, following the launch of its tokenized USD Liquidity Fund in July. Investors receive the same protections as those in the conventional fund, which was initially launched in 2002. Markets are moving to 24/7 access and real-time settlement. This is what that looks like in practice. For professional investors only. Capital at risk. ripple.com/ripple-press/aviv…

🚨 WARNING: TOMORROW WILL BE A BLOODBATH FOR MARKETS Stocks. Metals. Crypto. Black Monday will impact everything. And we’ve seen similar crashes before: The dot-com bubble. The housing crash. Now the AI bubble. Each time, people believed the bull run would last forever. And each time, reality caught up real quick. I’ve spent 10+ years studying markets and calling market tops and bottoms. My next call will be posted here first. Follow and turn on notifications before it’s too late. Don’t become exit liquidity.

Couldn't agree more. This leaves a very bad precedent for future bugs and it's not the first time. Ripple is known for being cheap and not giving enough support where it's needed. They have no problem spending millions in events and PR campaigns, but when it comes to really supporting XRPL and its builders thry become reluctant and give these ridiculous amounts. The XRPL ecosystem is in a very sad state right now and it keeps getting worse.
Replying to @XRPLF
Cheaply paying the whitehat $250K for a critical infinite XRP supply bug when your treasury has billions? Thanks for helping ensure the next time an attacker exploits it for 9 figures instead of reporting it in good faith. This is why people do not take XRPL or Ripple seriously as an org….

Ledger is investigating reports of loss of funds from users in South East Asia who purchased products from a reseller named CryptoBillis. As a precaution, and pending the results of our investigation, we have asked CryptoBilis to pause all sales and shipments of Ledger devices. We recommend Ledger users who purchased from this reseller in the last 90 days to not initiate set up if you have not done so yet. If you have set up your Ledger device, consider moving assets to a new Ledger signer (with new seed). We will continue to inform customers of updates as the investigation progresses. Reach out to Ledger customer support through official channels with any questions: support.ledger.com/

.@flyingtulip_ is still in the early stages, but the value flow is already easy to understand. ethereum:0x5dd1a7a369e8273371d2dbf9d83356057088082c is directly connected to the protocol’s activity. Revenue generated across the ecosystem, product fees, and yield are designed to feed open-market buybacks of the token. And the mechanism is already showing its strength. In just 5 months, the protocol has bought back around 1,331,149 ethereum:0x5dd1a7a369e8273371d2dbf9d83356057088082c from the market, representing roughly $133,114 in cumulative buybacks. Even more importantly, the pace has continued to accelerate throughout that period, with buyback activity consistently expanding as the protocol grows. As more products come online, more revenue streams are created. More activity → more fees → more revenue → more ethereum:0x5dd1a7a369e8273371d2dbf9d83356057088082c absorbed from the market. A simple value-accrual loop that becomes increasingly powerful as the ecosystem scales. 👇

I first proposed fee abstraction for Fantom in 2019. Formalized it into a spec called fee subsidies in 2021. Cool to see if finally implemented as fee sponsorship in 2026 as part of the v2.2 release. Still some catches like revert drain spam that needs to be addressed, and I think I do have a better solution, but still very cool; From user/ux perspective, no native token required in wallet to transact. Eh, my explainer for ssftUSD was before the release anouncement. Follow for more pre-release Flying Tulip alpha I guess.
Introducing ssftUSD, the auto-compounding ftUSD. Unlike sftUSD, which pays yield in bought back FT, ssftUSD automatically converts its share of the yield into more ftUSD and adds it back to the vault. As rewards compound over time, each ssftUSD becomes redeemable for more ftUSD. Links below 👇
