Yk I'm not black American, but I really hate how the term "woke" basically got gentrified (idk if this the correct word) and 🤚🏻 people just feel like they can tell black people what does and doesn't constitutes "woke". It really pisses me off
I do but dont at the same time?? While i do believe ppl can change, a lot of racism is built from anger and hate.. so imagine them when a minority they discriminated against decides to piss them off
What is the cutoff then for someone to learn and grow from mistakes or indoctrination. Ive heard some people say that past the age of 7 its inexcusable, thoughts?
As someone who has had to put up with racist white people for years I agree, they just don’t change, one moment they’ll tell you they are an anti racist, then they’ll call you a slur
theres objectively a such thing as a former racist
people's beliefs can change, how they view others can change, locking people to a binary system of yes and no means theres no point in trying to change. At the same time, its not the job of victims to FORGIVE a former racist.
I think it's entirely possible for someone to change, but I think they have to prove themselves in order for actual forgiveness. I also don't blame POC for not wanting to be around someone who was racist in the past.
for individuals it might vary since it is possible to grow out of bigotry, but I still look at them a little weird esp since a lot of them don’t TRULY deconstruct their racist ideas
