NO PLACE FOR HATE ✊🏿 Hate has no place in our schools, workplaces, or communities. On Monday, November 9, ETT President Nigel Barriffe will join MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam and a representative from Toronto East Anti-hate Mobilization (TEAM) for a community conversation about the rise of far-right hate and how we can organize together to challenge it. At a time when division and fear are being used to turn communities against one another, solidarity and collective action matter more than ever. 📅 Monday, November 9, 2026 🕖 7:00–9:00 PM (doors open at 7) 📍 Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne Street Free event. Advance registration required: forms.cloud.microsoft/Pages/… Join the conversation. Ford government jump scare 😱
NEW TODAY: The Ford government plans to spend billions more this year — but not on sectors that say they desperately need it, like health care and education. Ontario’s fall economic statement sets aside $3.8 billion in a contingency fund, more than double what was budgeted in March, to provide "fiscal flexibility" amid ongoing economic uncertainty. The province is also projecting a $16.9 billion deficit, and has pushed back its timeline to balance the books.

Hamilton's steelworkers are at the heart of our economy, and we won’t stand by while a Trump-aligned CEO tries to wipe them out. Yesterday, I rallied with Stelco workers to protest Cleveland-Cliffs' layoffs and their overt sabotage of our steel industry. Stelco’s owner has admitted that he bought the company to take out the competition for his US steel mills. Once our steel industry is gone, it’s gone forever. It's time for the government to act before it's too late. Nationalize Stelco. Save these good union jobs. Put the steel industry into public hands. That's how we take back control of our economy and build a stronger Canada for everybody.

Another confusing turn in the Ford government’s takeover of Ontario school boards... First, trustees at supervised public school boards were stripped of their governing powers. Then, the province left it unclear whether newly elected trustees would even be sworn in. When some trustees said they would keep meeting with their communities and speaking publicly anyway, Minister Calandra reversed course: they will now be sworn in, while still being barred from governing. The effect is that trustees remain sidelined, but are once again subject to the code of conduct and integrity oversight. That raises a serious question: is this really about accountability, or about limiting how elected trustees can speak and organize while their boards remain under provincial control? When trustees make mistakes, Calandra takes over. When political allies make mistakes, Calandra promotes them. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Full story in the Toronto Star: bit.ly/4eFDQzb #OSSTF #OntEd #OnPoli

New CJPME Foundation Report Examines How IHRA Example 7 Impacts Free Speech in Canada Canada is increasingly conflating anti-Zionism with antisemitism, raising serious concerns for freedom of expression, academic freedom, and Palestine advocacy. In Anti-Zionism, Free Speech, and IHRA Example 7 in Canada, the CJPME Foundation examines how the IHRA definition of antisemitism is being used to frame criticism of Israel and Zionism as antisemitic, including discussions of Palestinian history, Israel’s founding, and systemic discrimination against Palestinians. The report explores how these policies risk silencing legitimate political expression and exposing those who speak up for Palestinian rights to investigation and sanction. The Liberal government claims it wants to build Canada strong. You can't do that by attacking the workers who build it each and every day. Bill C-39 is the Carney plan to build baby build: but who is it really written for? The working class of this country? Or the investor class eyeing mega profits from our airports, public assets and natural resources? I think the Carney government has shown us whose interests rule in today's Canada.
NEW: Today, the Liberals voted down MP @LeahGazan's bill to end government strikebreaking and protect the constitutional right to strike. The NDP stands with workers; they chose to stand with the billionaires and corporate interests that are fuelling the crises that working people face every day. But the fight isn’t over. The Liberals and Conservatives are teaming up to expand this undemocratic power and make life harder for workers with Bill C-39. The NDP and workers coast to coast to coast will be fighting back every step of the way.

Ford inherited a province from the Liberals with 1,300 hospital patients being treated in hallways. He promised to end hallway healthcare. 🚨 8 years later, he set a new record: 2,088 patients in hallways. Ford's motto is "Get it done." #onthealth #onpoli
NEW: We obtained internal government data showing Ontario’s hallway health care numbers hit unprecedented highs in the last two years, with over 2,000 patients treated in hallways on an average day last winter 🧵 thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

Doug Ford is not fiscally conservative. He has wasted so much money on self-congratulatory ads and stupid booze deals since 2018 that could have gone to healthcare and education. I’m so tired of “doing more with less” and seeing student and staff safety plummet under Ford.
