Thank you for everything @tim_cook, you've saved my life and millions more!
Below is an open letter I sent you, that I also wanted to share with the world: it explains why I'll personally forever be grateful to you.
Dear Tim,
You once told us the world needs us in the arena. For 15 years, you’ve fought in that arena. As you step away to the sidelines today, just remember the immense impact you had while you were in it.
We've never met, but I wanted to send you a note to say thank you. Why?
For many reasons, but chiefly for the Apple Watch. In 20 years of covering technology, this is the product that will forever resonate with me as truly game-changing in ways other consumer technology products cannot be.
6 years ago, I had a heart attack after Thanksgiving, and the Apple Watch saved my life several times, and then proved to be an incredibly powerful companion in getting me back to good health.
I've often said to people that Apple has done many great things, but the greatest is the Apple Watch. As you said, it's the biggest impact Apple has ever had on humanity, and the millions of lives saved would not have been possible with any other product.
The current focus on health, both as an industry and as humanity, would also not have been possible without the industry you and your team kickstarted, and I will forever be grateful that you chose to bring this product to market.
40 years from now, when I'm hopefully still alive, I'll still forever be an Apple Watch fan. Money comes and goes, market cap fluctuates, and political winds blow in multiple directions, but this is a legacy that no one can ever deny.
Congratulations on 15 incredible years you deserve to be lauded for, and for doing what few thought possible: picking up the mantle from Steve Jobs and leading Apple from strength to strength.
I wish you the best in your new role. Thank you again! If there's ever a doubt that it was worth everything, I hope this email and the many others remind you of just how many lives you helped save.

iPhone Duo tidbit:
The updated polishing cloth that everyone called “cheaper” and worse quality than the previous one is actually designed for the inner screen of iPhone Duo. I tested both versions and the previous one didn’t do anything. The new cloth removes smudges easily

IP tests whether fine dust can penetrate the critical interior logic board, battery, and primary chambers. It does not require the complex mechanical gaps, sliding tracks, or outer covers of a foldable hinge to be completely sealed against debris.
I don't take issue with your videos as entertainment. My issue is that they are presented as the gold standard for durability. Even though there isn't one test that is done that people do with their devices in the real world.

Sand entering in through the hinge has *direct* access to the backside of the screen where it can then puncture the display. You still have time to delete this.

The dust enters the hinge but the ip 68 rating kept the dust away from the internals that were sealed

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra today, its mid-priced model built to operate a computer: invoices into accounting software, forms, proposals.
It is in ChatGPT Work and Codex for paying plans, not regular chat. API price: $1 per million input tokens, $5 output, half the old Terra.
OpenAI's own test puts low-effort errors at 16.7%, down from 53.6%. Unverified, but cost per task is what decides whether agents run all day.

This is the Power Rangers Model of building a Scaled YouTube Team.
Every Ranger should be dangerous alone, but the entire team should be nearly unbeatable together.

Testing out the UIs of all the major AI apps on the iPhone Duo.
Most are already fairly well optimized already.
I would say Claude and Muse 'feel' the best right now.

Erm… I’ve been getting nervous watching this spot on my #iPhoneDuo. I only noticed it this morning. I see the hinge pressing on this spot from underneath as I start to fold it.
And NO, I never press on the screen when folding. I hold from the frame only.
Anyone else?

Not sure if anyone was paying attention but HomeView ship dates are now November 17th for all but rose gold
and near me in CT and parts of NY, there are none available for pickup in store on launch day. Seems some demand is there?

I think mobile computing is about to be upended, and the breakthrough could come down to two words: “Hey, ChatGPT.”
Or whatever AI agent you choose.
Once an agent can reliably handle a task for you, why hunt and peck through an app to order food or compose an email? Just say what you want done.
Now imagine that access through a ring or wristband. No screen required. Just a wake word that connects you to your agent, without first pulling out your phone or going through Apple’s or Google’s assistant.
Making your agent instantly available by voice could change how often you need to touch a smartphone.
Humane and Rabbit were early, but I think they were onto something. The agents behind the hardware weren’t ready. Now they’re getting closer.
Services could even build to be agent first, without an app interface for humans at all. Companies that block agents would lose.
We’ve spent years learning how to tap, swipe and dig through menus. So much of that could go away when we can simply say what we want to do.
