Not sure how it happened, but I found myself attending an academic cryptography conference in Beer Sheva, Israel the day before the elections here. Not going to say it's why the election turned out the way it did, because it's almost certainly not.
2,400 peak live viewers on the Mid-Chain Conference livestream. → 220,000+ minutes watched live. → 6,000+ livestream views across X + YouTube. → Dozens of new connections and job interviews set up for Web3 Devs community members. The first Mid-Chain... Not the last! Next events: lu.ma/web3devs_underground?u…

Yesterday was Election Day in Israel. The outcome is still not final, but there's definitely plenty to talk about. Can't follow the Hebrew-language coverage? Paste any reel or x post into targum and read along. Join the beta: targum.page

Since starting to build @targum_app, I've discovered a lot of folks have also vibe coded 'better ways to learn x language.' targum is not just that. It's the result of two decades of my life loving language learning as a hobby, and needing languages to function in the world I live in. It's already found relevance with a few users. Maybe the next one is you.
The best way to learn any language is with content you're actually interested in. On targum, you can paste a link to any YouTube video, and get a full-blown Hebrew lesson. Join the waitlist at targum.page

The existing infrastructure I've seen so far does one thing, and one thing only: It matches new olim with entry-level BDR/SDR jobs in tech companies. They are hired for their English, and does not account for the immigrants' other gifts, skills, or personalities. This, I think, works only for a certain category of oleh. Somebody young and inexperienced and whose personality is well-suited to this kind of role.

Went to the North Korean restaurant in Moscow, back in 2021. It was an absolute hole in the wall - a rarity for restaurants of that calibre in the capital. It reminded more of the underground, certainly unregulated, Chinese restaurants that I had visited with my classmates - students themselves from China. None of the typically courteous service of Russian restaurants, but excellent homestyle food. The portions at the North Korean restaurant were tasty but small. Not luxurious - again homestyle - but expensive. There was certainly no way it could compete with the plethora of South Korean restaurants that were popping up in Western Russia at the time. I'm certain the restaurant stayed afloat merely as a curiosity for the slightly more adventurous, beyond what I'm sure were more nefarious machinations behind the scenes.
Dinner at North Korean restaurant in Shenyang. We can't film North Korean waitresses to maintain the fiction that China is enforcing UN sanctions on North Korea
