BREAKING: The European Union has announced a revolutionary plan to end poverty across Europe.
I decided to investigate.
At 9:00 AM, Ursula announced the launch of the European Prosperity Initiative.
Every citizen would receive a €1,000 monthly prosperity allowance.
For the first time in decades, Europeans dared to dream.
A Frenchman bought a second baguette.
A German turned his heating on without checking his bank balance.
An Italian ordered coffee AND a pastry.
The streets were filled with joy.
But at 12:00 PM, the second announcement arrived.
The €1,000 allowance would be subject to a 38% prosperity tax.
The remaining €620 would be adjusted for inflation.
After administrative fees, citizens would receive €417.
The programme would also require a €89 monthly subscription to access the funds.
Then came the final announcement.
To prevent excessive consumer spending, citizens earning over €20,000 annually would be required to return 60% of their remaining allowance.
The Frenchman sold his second baguette.
The German turned his heating off.
The Italian returned the pastry.
At 6:00 PM, Brussels declared the initiative a historic success.
Poverty across Europe had fallen by 0.03%.
Ursula congratulated the team on LinkedIn.
The Europoors went to bed feeling deflated as per usual.

One of the biggest $ZEC swaps on THORChain so far: 0.365 $BTC for 24.7 $ZEC, about $29.6K.
The $ZEC pool held 22.9 $ZEC when the swap started. The swapper received more than the pool held.
THORChain streamed it: 1,300 sub-swaps over 1h58, with arbitrageurs refilling the pool between them. The pool never dropped below 22.2 $ZEC. THORChain's fee came to about 0.22%, and the app the swapper used added 1.25%.
About 15% of the deposit came back. The swapper had set a price limit, and midway through $ZEC got 5% more expensive in the pool. Streaming checks that limit on every sub-swap. 197 of them would have delivered less $ZEC than the limit allowed, so THORChain skipped them and refunded 0.065 $BTC instead of filling at a worse price. Once the price came back, the rest of the swap went through.
$ZEC is still in a progressive rollout. The pool is kept small while the integration is tested on mainnet, and liquidity deepens once that goes well. With streaming, a thin pool means a longer wait, not a worse price.
