countless days of our lives just scrolling, but I wouldn't have it any other way

Tay says you probably shouldn’t ever panic about AI hacks
“Honestly, you probably shouldn’t ever panic. It’s usually worse to panic. If you’re in crypto, you probably know this, right? When the market starts to crash, don’t go catch the falling knife. It’s the same with security. If you panic, it usually gets worse.”
“When you’re not in a panic state, when you’re in a controlled, calm state, think about all the different assets you have. Think about how you can secure those, but also how you can diversify those to be secured by different methods.”
“You don’t want to get hacked and have your entire net worth wiped out. It’s better to diversify so that only one egg in one basket gets wrecked, rather than all of the eggs in the one basket.”
“Spread things out. Use different wallets. Use cold storage. Those sorts of things, I think, will give people a lot of peace of mind.”

Checked my bank account to make sure ai didn’t steal all of my money
My most recent transaction is a tax payment
The government stole my money before the ai ever could

Threadguy says you have a civic obligation to know your local sports team
“Nobody has shared experience anymore. Everybody has their own algorithm, watches their own streamers, their own TikToks, different movies, different books. When I was growing up everybody had shared experience. We watched the same games, we read the same books, everybody read the Hunger Games, everybody watched Percy Jackson, everybody went to Endgame. Nobody does the same stuff anymore, so everyone is separated. Knowing your local sports team is the last unifying cultural thing any town has.”
“As a functioning citizen of your city you almost have an obligation to be surface level caught up on your local team. If you’re a lonely tech person in New York and you wonder why you can’t connect with anybody, it’s you. You’re supposed to know who the quarterback is, who the best player on the basketball team is. It’s the easiest small talk there is, and I feel for people, because it’s lonely out here in the city.”
“If you work a job you hate and you don’t have friends, how are you going to go meet anybody? It’s solo rip in the bar, which is rough. But solo rip in the bar when the Knicks are on? It’s free. It’s so free.”
> If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever
"The greatest battle is playing out over the next 20 years. There’s a world in which Orwell is right, but I do think we have a path to avoid it. If you are talented and are working toward centralization of power, quit your job and figure out how to work toward decentralization. There’s no such thing as centralization of power for good, even if you are good someone evil will eventually take the reins of whatever you built. The idea is never to build the reins in the first place. Nothing in this world is worth the eternal boot. Not your apartment, not your car, not your status, and not your travel. Nothing. And don’t be so stupid as to think you’ll be one wearing the boot. You won’t. Please stop."

if today is any indication of the pace, markets are not nearly pricing in the rate at which banks/healthcare/etc are going to have to merge to acquire enough scale to defend against ai driven security vulnerabilities
Threadguy says people like Kimchi have completely ruined dating by flying girls around on private jets
“Honestly people like Kimchi ruined this. ‘Oh, I'll take you out on my private jet.’ It's like, what? Private jet? What are you talking about?”
“I love tricking but I know what I'm working with. We could go out and have some fun but the jet is like, it's like $40,000 to fly in a jet”
“The other thing is one, you gotta swipe up with financial means and then number two is you’re DMing 5 girls”
“You’re right Ansem it's hitting the group chat of like five. Five people are reading it”
“You're solo squads and the odds are not in your favor”
Threadguy refuses to hate on the Kimchi vlog because it was simply too tuff
"I love to hate on some shit. I'll hate on whoever. Uncs, plumbers, zoomers. I'm down to pocket watching and hate. But, it was tough. I don't know what to tell you"
"The jet was tough. The Rari was tough. The custom Bottega was tough. Now is it me? No. Would it be me if I was walking around mid eight figs? Maybe. Hard to say. I guess we'll never know... until we know"

Based16z shares his advice for young people looking to achieve financial freedom
“I've been spending a lot of time right now working on Whop. I think that's really interesting and also embodies a lot of how you might describe the set of options for someone with the goal of achieving things in an economic sense”
“I think that's a goal for a lot of people and was definitely a goal for me, to get my own economic freedom because I always felt somewhat hamstrung by it”
“My parents could be like, ‘Hey, you can't do this. We're not going to support this or we can't afford this,’ or whatever”
“If you have that as a goal then I think it's good to not go into a traditional job and try to do something on the internet for yourself and build equity in it or build skill in it or build specific knowledge”
“What that is, is just so changing and I'm probably too old even to understand what the coolest one is. Maybe it's building Roblox games now right? There's some kids going insane on that”
“Part of the Whop thesis is just like hey the smartest and most motivated people in the world are going to try to figure out their own things to do and it's going to be ever changing and an ever evolving meta”
“It's even beyond crypto. I wouldn't tell someone, ‘Hey, go into crypto trading.’ If you had a real passion for that, I'm sure you can still do well starting from nothing”
“You can make it doing anything as long as you love it”
“You gotta work on something that's interesting to you, that's working for yourself, that's probably a little bit new and is hard to explain to old people and that you're going to have fun with”

there's this conocial moment in more money than god where greenspan raises rates to get ahead of inflation in 1994? I think? and the market reacts unexpectadly with leverage panic selling us bonds (yields rip higher) AND a euro/japan bond selloff as well (yields rip crazy)
And there's this revelation of holy fuck assets no longer trade in a silo, hedge funds are big enough to transmit shocks across markets and they trade everything. They run this now. that's why if say gold is supposed to act as a risk off hedge inversely correlated with risk, if nvda has a terrible miss and dumps -15% gold is going down with it bc people need to sell to cover
so zooming out over the last couple weeks we've watched the ai trade start to unravel - I know spy is -2% or whatever but i think it's fair to say Kospi -40%, Dram -43% etc an unraveling and bitcoin/crypto hasn't gone down, at all. Well it's because nobody fucking holds any. None of the biggest funds hold, literally any
The entire market has a coorelation of fucking 1 to AI and crypto is just standing there as the perfect hedge in the middle of once in a multi decade wealth generation event uniquely reserved for the demographic that understands it the most. I just don't think selling the few coins I like because dram might leg down another 10% makes a lot of sense as it hasn't been happening at all
So ya I bought some zcash
Also im sure a lot of my nuance in this take is wrong because im not a fucking macro larp but i'm reading the book now and it felt relevant good luck

Rasmr calls Threadguy on stream and says he made a bag listening to his Zcash shill
“Last night we were chilling, and nobody was talking about coins. You made an extremely poignant effort to sit everyone down, shut everyone up, and explain to people why you think Bitcoin and Zcash are going up.”
“You ranted for like 15 minutes, like a schizophrenic, talking about weird book chapters and sh*t like that. I went home and longed it, and now I’m up.”
Threadguy goes cryptic about the spooks and cuts himself off before he loses his platform
“I’m going to say a name and you tell me if it’s familiar. What does the name Hunter Beast mean to you? Does that name mean anything to anybody? Because I’ll tell you what he means to me. He means a string of knowledge. He connected me to a part of the world that I did not know existed. The spooks. Chat, do you know about the spooks?”
“Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. But you know what I know? They know about you. I believe that. They know about you, bro. That’s all I’m going to say before they fucking come for me. I can’t lose my platform so we’ve got to move on topics. But they know about you.”
