Today in Omarchy (20-Oct-2026) Omarchy 4.5 has reached RC1, and my Liftoff wallpaper for Tokyo Night is in the notes. A small contribution to a release with quite a lot to test 😅 🚀 4.5 is ready for testing This is the first feature release candidate since Quattro. The changes affect how you use the desktop, well beyond its appearance. Super+L cycles between tiling, scrolling and floating workspaces. Floating mode gets themed titlebars and a dock, with Super+M to minimise. Each monitor has its own workspaces, so switching on one screen doesn’t mean chasing windows across the others. Ryan Hughes’s (@ryanrhughes) Omapager integration brings notification stacks by sender, snoozing, Do Not Disturb and history into the core shell. Verification codes stay redacted in stored history. The RC also brings 50 languages and x86_64 and aarch64 ISOs. These features have been in development; today’s change is their arrival in a named release candidate. Test it through Update > Channel > RC, then Update > Omarchy. Use a test machine or have a backup you know how to restore. 🔧 4.0.6 fixes the upgrade blockers Stable users have a separate update. 4.0.6 arrived late last night with fixes for the OpenClaw migrations that stopped 4.0.5 upgrades, locking before suspend and the boot passphrase keyboard layout. It also handles a console migration failure with customised Limine command lines. One catch remains for people with their own npm-installed @OpenClaw. The update leaves that copy alone, but the gateway can fail after reboot. The release notes include the manual steps to finish the move. Read those before assuming the gateway will restart. 🛞 Orb fixes native installation I released Orb 0.1.1. It’s a shortcut wheel near your pointer for apps, themes and installed coding agents, inspired by Tangerine for Mac. The useful change is installation through Omarchy’s normal plugin manager. Settings are created automatically, saved layouts stay intact, and shortcuts follow enable, disable and removal. Super+Alt+O opens it. I’ve tested this version on my XPS. Multiple physical monitors and fractional scaling still need live testing. If you used 0.1.0’s local installer, remove and add Orb once through the plugin manager; your saved settings remain. 🤖 Agents get a spare desktop I also shared my Grok Bot running Try Omarchy on its own computer. The demo covers theme switching, window tiling and opening my markets widget. @DHH picked it up too. That gives me somewhere to delegate visual plugin checks. It doesn’t mean every plugin has passed them. Cloud setup still needs work. Giving the agent another desktop is appealing. Giving it a specific check, and keeping the evidence, is the part that makes it useful.
