Was 6 days strong NNN
⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: Tongue pictures.
Before doxycycline: My tongue was covered in a thick white coating, even though I was scraping it 3 times a day.
After just 3 (THREE!!!) days of doxycycline: Almost completely clear, without scraping it ONCE.
And the most interesting part isn’t even how my tongue looks. It’s how much better I feel mentally.
This reminds me why Ray Peat placed so much importance on intestinal bacteria, endotoxin and the gut-brain connection.
His basic idea was simple:
Your gut doesn’t just affect your digestion but very much your entire body, including your brain.
Certain bacteria produce endotoxin, a substance that will trigger inflammation when it enters the bloodstream.
That inflammation will interfere with how efficiently your cells produce energy, increase stress hormones, and influence everything from sleep and digestion to mood, anxiety, motivation, and mental clarity.
Many problems we think of as purely psychological can very often have a physical foundation: inflammation, poor energy production and a body stuck in a chronic stress state.
This is also why Ray Peat was interested in reducing excessive intestinal bacterial growth and, in certain circumstances, using good, safe well-tolerated antibiotics.
The goal isn’t to destroy every bacterium in your gut per se but actually to reduce harmful bacterial activity and the burden of endotoxin on the body.
And after this experience, I understand his interest even more.
My tongue looks dramatically better after just 3 doses of doxy, but what matters most to me is that my mind feels clearer, my mood is better and I feel more like myself. Endless newfound energy and focus on my work!!!
Of course, a cleaner tongue doesn’t prove that gut endotoxin has fallen completely. Doxycycline also acts directly on bacteria in the mouth.
But it’s a striking reminder of something Peat kept emphasising:
The state of your gut, your metabolism, and your mental state are deeply connected.
Very often what feels like a problem with your mind may have a lot to do with what’s happening in your gut.
I’ve never laughed so hard why did he get so analytical about cuffem 😂
